two stick control on a Graupner tx

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone out there can tell me how to go to 2 stick steering from one stick steering on a Graupner tx. This is controlling my Jagdpanther and on single stick the steering is very jerky and uneven.
I also have a Tiger which is 2 stick and that is very smooth. So I thought I might try the Jagdpanther on the 2 stick and see how it is. The model is fitted with all the older control boxes ie. DMQ's and switchers. If anyone could help I would be very grateful.

Do you know if the single stick control is being done by the transmitter or the DMR203 ?

To check the DMR, you will need to open it. With the top off, and the cables to the motors at the bottom, there is a block of links top right. The "Steer Mode" jumper is third from the left, second from the right. If it is linked, the DMR is operating in "Tank Mode" which means that each input from the receiver controls one motor. If it is not linked, the DMR is operating in "Mixed Mode", where the two receiver channels are mixed together to get single stick operation.

If the DMR is operating in Tank Mode, then it must be the transmitter which is 'mixing' the channels to give you single stick control.

I've only worked on one Graupner transmitter, but if you can let me know the model number, I'll take a look at the manual and see if I can see how to turn off mixing.

Kevin if the single stick control is jerky then there is clearly something wrong anyway. Single stick should be as smooth as the conventional method . As Adrian says you have to check the DMR before doing any thing else. I would search online to see if downloadable manuals are available. I must admit to sticking with Futaba equipment where this type of adjustment is very easy. Remember that you will in all probability have to change the channels on the receiver into which the speed controllers are plugged. On the Futaba single stick control uses channels 1 and 2 with Elevon mode activated on the transmitter. 2 stick operation uses channels 2 and 3 on the receiver with Elevon mode deactivated on the transmitter. Graupner may however be different. Let us know how you get on :D

Hi,
and many thanks to Peter and Adrian for replying to my post. As yet I have been unable to look at the set up in the JP. What with Christmas and then New Year, relatives and so on. I have however found the online manual for the model Tx which is a Graupner mx-16iFS 3D cylinder rotary select. Not yet had much time to absorb the info and I am a total duff when it comes to electronics so I will probably need some help. May get some time over the weekend to have a look. Watch this space!

Kevin glad you found the manual. I would be tempted to look for some mechanical problem as well as a radio issue.As I said one stick operation should be smooth unless the channels have not been mixed correctly on the tranny. You could try swapping the receiver and tranny from your other model to check if the mechanics of your Jagd are ok. Just remember to tag the receiver leads with the correct channel number so that you can put them back where they were! Whatever the problem is it shouldn't be a major problem to fix.
