Uwe's PAK

Post by Uwe Gerstenmayer »

Hello from Cologne :D ,

I'm really looking forward for the October events so I had a start on PAK :)

The "fit & function" has been finished yesterday and everything is working smoothly now

For the Guiness target it should be OK like it is now :?

The only Mods I've done are on the diskwheels and a "recoil-upgrade"..

One point I'm struggeling with are the rivets :? hundrets of 2,0 mm holes but 1,6mm rivets :(

Has anybody the round-head dimension of the original rivets at the PAK ???
That Info would be much appreciated to figure out some potential alternatives.

So tomorrow back to the FLAK Boogies to have them same level ready for October

Cheers ,

Uwe

Your Pak is looking good Uwe,

What size are these Castellated Nuts on your disk wheels!
They look smaller than M3 size!
Did you buy them somewhere! or did you make them yourself?

Not sure about the size of the rivets to use on the Pak yet!

Cheers
Ian

Looks great I will be ordering my Pak in Sept. Approx. how long is it with the barrel in two parts (I assume it ca be reduced for storage) Reason I want to but a Really Useful Plastic storage box to store the gun (prob. with wheels removed).

Thanks Doug

Hello Ian and Doug :) ,

hope I can answer your questions as follows:

The Castle-Nuts M3 with SW4,5mm I got a long time ago from Martin Diessel. They were "selfmade" CNC'd and not available in any regular shop. I need myself more of them for several apps on my models so I've contacted Martin allready for that.
The Hex Bolts are from Knupfer Germany, M3 x 20mm SW 4,0mm, shortened to 17,0 mm lenght.

Doug,

the PAK is with disassembled front part of the barrel 1090 mm in lenght, and roughly 460 mm wide including the wheels and hub-caps, hight at about 340 mm. You can safe another 100 mm in lenght by turning the tow-bar inbound for transport
So the min inner DIM of a Box for transport should not be less than 460 (w) x 1000 (L) x 350 mm (H)

Hope that helps a bit,

cheers from Cologne,

Uwe

Hi Uwe,

1000mm seems to larger than the Really Useful Storage boxes I can find on Amazon. Before I go build a custom box approx what is the length trail to shield? I was thinking of drilling a hole in large Really Useful Storage box and point the barrel out. Hey, it's worth go!

Man thanks Doug

Hi Doug,

I'm pretty busy on FLAK again so it took a while

The options you have to reduce the BOX lenght are :

1.) Lenght to the front edge of the wheels = 740 mm :
Means you have to slot the Box and the cradle and barrel are looking out of the Box and are unprotected !

2.) Lenght to the front end of the cradle = 860 mm :
This would give the option to work with the barrel recoil dis-engaged and the Barrel seperate stored in the Box. The PAK would be fully protected in the Box.

Suitable Boxes are pretty hard to find on regular sources, have a try on Industrie used ones..
Here in Germany we have e.g. Auer .
I'll have a look next week for it, since I have the same task to be solved, and not only for the PAK .

cheers from Cologne,

Uwe

for boxes go to http://www.reallyusefulproducts.co.uk web site is in 6 languages , I Ordered from them and got my boxes in 3 days, hope this is some use to you.

Hi Doug and Walter,

standing in the forest and don't see the trees anymore

Walters hint is so clear..., just since I'm lazy I'll modify just slightly the pivot-pin and secure them with a spring pin (RC car use) instead of the bolts - no tools required and pretty quick

Later today I'll post a pic of my setup,

cheers,

Uwe

Hi Doug,
It was the 11 Litre boxes with 15 tray inserts for holding the nuts and bolts for each model, If you check out the website and compare with Amazon prices then make your choices.
Regards Walter.

Hello folks,

a long time now ago that I've shown any progress on my builds...

My friend Paul Wills has allready complained about the lack of posts

Paul , :D :D , here are some mods I've done on my PAK e.g. with the Muzzlebreak, sight apparatus wheels etc.

On the fair in Dortmund early last year I meet a nice couple selling special treatment chemicals used for guns . The technology is called " brünieren ". What is that correct in English ???
Very interesting stuff and I'm very pleased with the results. :D Maybe of good use for several applications in our hobby

Hope it's of interest

cheers from Cologne,

Uwe
