Tank Fest and seeing the Tiger 131 inspired me to order a new Recoil Tube and Low Friction Sleeve to improve my retro fit of recoil to my Early Tiger as I was worried about metal on metal wear and the amount of play in the barrel.
The new sleeve needed a slight amount of enlarging to work with my older barrel and then I realised I need to make a bush to further align the recoil system as it passes through the Mantlet and stop it rubbing.

The bush needed vent holes as the air trapped inside created too much air pressure for the recoil to work.

To complicate matters I knocked the end of my old Elevation Motor and a Bush fell out, I sticks out vertically from the underside of the Turret, so the time came to install a horizontally aligned Motor. I have used a Motionco Worm Gearbox Motor
http://www.motionco.co.uk/motors-worm-g ... 54_73.html which with a new mount that I made, aligns with the old style lead screw elevation arrangement. The new motor runs at a similar speed and generates slightly more torque that the old Trident Motor.

I am pleased that I now no longer have to worry about a vulnerable motor and that I have sorted out some thing that needed a solution! The Tan is now back on the road.
