Fitting a set of Olaf's tracks to my newly acquired KT

Post by Stephen Mason »

Now that I am the new owner of the KT that Dale Jordan built, and Noel painted, I have decided to fit the excellent late war KT scale tracks that I have which were made by Olaf. These tracks really are very scale in appearance and will be a nice addition to this particular tank. They will also last a very long time due to the hardwearing material they are made out of.

The only thing that really let these tracks down was the fact that the sprocket ring was (as Per very kindly pointed out) 7mm over scale and did look a bit out of place with the tracks fitted to the KT. It is all to do with the pitch of the sprocket ring according to those in the know. I have now overcome this problem and managed to find the correct 18 tooth sprocket rings which also has the correct pitch as well. :D

Here are a few comparison shots of Olaf's sprocket rings, in red primer, and there replacements. As you can see there is quite a difference in size.

I have yet to fit the sprockets, rings and tracks to the KT as Simon Manning is very kindly painting the rings to hopefully match the sprockets that Noel painted.
I have every confidence in Simon of course.

I will post a couple more pictures once everything has been fitted.

Steve
Very nice.
What a huge difference there is in the old and new sprockets, the new ones being so much better.
Looking forward to seeing them painted and installed on the KT.
Regards
Steve
