Gunner's Limber

Hi all,
Been enjoying my Limber build, although I managed to confuse myself on how to go about the assembly. I am a bit old fashioned and baulk at gluing metal. I like to prep and paint my parts before assembly and I was struggling to do this and follow the instructions order. I also had not done a dry assembly. I found on my gun kit, the steel parts would rust with handling and so I wanted to get primer on all the parts soonest, you can imagine how this complicates things when gluing is then needed. Any way, this is why my gun kit has been so delayed, basically my procrastination, sometimes you just need to get stuck in eh? Fortunately the Limber kit arrived and let me get started again, as a simpler kit it has enabled me to get my mind back in gear. If only work didn't get in the way so much, shift work can really damage your modelling. I had intended to just build it from the kit and maybe scratch build an interior, but you have all seen the goodies Dave produces, so... Any way I will try and add some photos to this thread when I have read the rules and worked out how to add them.

I notice a rattle can in a couple of pictures - are you using that for the paintwork, or do you use an airbrush as well ?

Thanks Adrian, I have a couple of airbrushes, had them for years but no compressor. But I have not really learned how to use them. I use rattle cans, expensive I know but out of the four 1/8th scale R/C tanks I have I only painted one of them. Two were pre painted as they were bought ready assembled.
Maybe I should say here what I have. I started with a 1/8th scale Tiger from the first production run from then Winson Models. This is the only one I assembled myself and painted it using Tamiya aerosols. Probably could have bought a compressor by the time I had finished. I then got a fantastic all metal Sherman out of China via mark-1-tanks. My next one was also from Mark-1 tanks, a late model Tiger, fibre glass hull and turret. I had that painted up in a colour scheme from a wartime photo. My last tank is also a Winson first run Tiger made by a friend of mine. He prefers to leave most of his builds in bare metal, so this is yet to be painted. I intend to eventually replace the motors/gearboxes and electrics in the Winson Tigers and will sell the Fibre glass one to make room. I prefer the metal ones really.
I have been painting my limber with Tamiya aerosols and will do the same probably with the gun kit. With the WW1 Mk IV on its way though maybe I should think about a change, although I might think about a professional paint job for him, decisions, decisions. the priming will be aerosol though bit by bit, probably. I guess I shouldn't really post photos of my other tanks here as it is for Armortek products really. Here are a couple of ones of my gun build though.

Not got too far along with the gun, as I said earlier, got a little bogged down, but am looking forward to eventually getting it up and running along with the limber. Then all we have to do is wait for Mark and Gil to bring out the Quad tractor.

Hi All,
Progress on the Limber has slowed due to work and waiting for the detail kit from Dave to become available. I have been preparing and painting some of the smaller parts but had hoped to have all the remaining parts to this stage by now, especially the doors. As soon as i can get these done I will modify the the rear plate mounting as Dave suggests by gluing in a set of bolts in the bottom of the body to take nuts when the rear plate is attached after the detail parts are added. Any way, I will add a couple more photos when I have done as much as I can without the detail set. Has anyone else made progress with their Limber kit or are you waiting for the parts from Dave?. If so can you post a topic sharing some photos. It would be nice to see some other examples on the forum.

Well going backwards to make progress. Stripped back my Limber in preparation for the inclusion of Dave's detail kit. No doubt some more of what has been done will still have to be undone as well, especially stripping back some of the paint to get a good bond for parts that will need gluing onto the metal. I have made the modification to the rear plate mentioned by Dave. I had also started modifying the rear towing hitch before finding out that a new item would be included in Dave's detail set, still it was fun and still is. If only I had made as much progress on the gun let alone the MkIV still unchecked in its boxes, so much to do.
