Re: Armorpax's 25 Pounder
Hi All,
Following Marcus's earlier post I started off relocating the two rear side brackets. I've moved them 2 rivets back and am much happier with the overall look. That led to the two rear handles and sole plate for the spade..................
There has to be a sensible cut off point for the kit parts but not sure where that is yet
Happy New Year.
Dave

Re: Armorpax's 25 Pounder
Hi All,
Seems Marcus and I are almost builidng in tandem
I've also started on the slide reinforcements today. Mine is a little shorter than Marcus's as I have recessed the underneath of the slide so it sits right forawrd over the slide nose piece. This meant I had to shorten the recoil slide a little. For those that don't do this the reinforcement will need fitting slighlty further back and the gap between the casting and trunion filling with something like Milliput.
Best regards
Dave

Re: Armorpax's 25 Pounder
Ow, this is scary!!! You are not by the way working on a functioning recoil system are you (playing with some springs and rod at the moment)?
I had started on that box some time ago and have made it shorter already 2 times before I was satisfied with the result. The more you study the photos the more modifications take place (I just don't know when to stop......).
The bracket at the rear of the slide is for linking to the slide with the transport brace are you planning to make that one too?
That little bras bolt on the photo where did you find it and what size is it?
Keep those updates coming I am enjoying myself immensely!!!!
Best regards,
Marcus

Re: Armorpax's 25 Pounder
Hi Marcus,
The recoil slide already has a simple recoil with 2 extension springs fitted underneath . I used a curtain hook in the nose piece and 2 rivets on the slide to connect the springs.
The bolts are all from EKP supplies and are a mixture of 10, 12 and 14Ba.
I keep thinking the list of parts I am going to make is complete then something else comes up
I may make the travel lock but I think I am getting near the end of the commercial parts, There is the lower rear angles, the storage boxes and the handspikes and brackets and I think that will be it.
Best regards
Dave

Re: Armorpax's 25 Pounder
Hi All,
Slide reinforcements finished. I haven't added the weld between the part and the recoil trough as these may vary slightly. I would suggest that the parts are sanded to fit if necessary than the extra weld is added using Milliput.
Best regards
Dave

Dave,
Wonderful stuff!!
Regarding the box like reinforcement just behind the trunnions: check if it does not clash with the elevation mechanism (actualy its retaining nut) with the gun at full elevation. Turned out it clashed on mine......
Cheers,
Marcus
