Dear Friends
6th Scale Icons Inc., was formed in April 2004, I made my first ten sets of parts for the Tiger 1 starting in July 2003. I now have over 300 sets in my catalog. It has been a good ten years, during which I have had a lot of fun, made many new friends and some money on the way to live on. On May 1, 2014 I will be at the big 70. I am now planning to retire on that date and 6th Scale Icons Inc., will cease to exist as it is.
I will be placing my final order for photo-etched parts in the next two weeks. Once I receive that order any parts that run out will not be available. This is important to customers that may want large photo-etched parts such as Tiger 1 Stowage Bins, Mudguards and Grills, Tiger 2 Rear Mudguards and Grills, Panther complete sets, Cupola and Grills.
If anyone has any interest in taking over or being involved in this very lucrative company please contact me. There are several options on how this can be achieved which will need to be discussed in detail.
As a thank you for your support over the last ten years I am offering a 10% discount on orders paid in full by end of this year.
I will cease taking orders for discounts on December 31,2013. Orders received after December 31 will only be accepted if I have the parts in stock and the time to complete them. No discount will be offered on these orders.
Offer 1. Place a order now with payment in full to receive a 10% discount.
Discount will not apply to the following new parts or any other offers. Tiger 2 Rear Mudguards, Panther IR Scope, Panther Armored Stowage Bin, SdKfz 222 Turret Grill, MG34 Gurtsack and Mount
Offer 2. For orders of $500.00 or more, pay a 25% deposit with the balance due when your order is ready to ship in 2014.
Thank you for your time and support.
Sincerely.
Mike Stannard (Founder and Owner)

Hi Mike.
Whilst I'm very sorry to hear that you have decided to retire from the business side of the hobby, I have to say you've made a huge impact in the realism and authenticity of the models hereabouts, both by producing such superbly detailed parts, but also by undertaking and sharing the research which goes into every piece you've made.
I sincerely hope that someone will take up the mantle and keep your products available to us. It would be a shame if all your hours of research and design was lost.
It's very easy to forget that this is a hobby for us lucky few who can afford it, but it's been a business, and recently a very stressful one at that, for you.
I wish you well in your retirement, and hope that you keep in touch on the various forums around the world
Adrian.

Indeed Mike, I echo Adrian's sentiments, and as one of the few that have actually met you and visited your 'lair' it would be a shame to loose the effect of all your efforts on the hobby, your workshop is a place of great wonderment.
Good luck in the future and I will look to the items available that I may need, although as you know I have pretty much filled my boots.
William

Wishing Mike a long and healthy retirement. It will be a loss to the hobby as this highly skilled craftsman finally takes off his gloves. Known Mike for several years since he started back before 2003. And even though he's had some hurdles along the way, he always provided quality pieces. Many of which I've purchased to enhance my kits, as well as to just own a small piece of his art that I will never use on any model. Good Luck and thanks for supplying all of us with quality pieces.

Hi Mike although I have not purchased from you direct I believe that many of the parts on my late Tiger command tank originated in your workshop when it was built by David Gray. From the past posts I have read it is obvious that you were regarded with affection by your customers and I just wanted to add that I hope you have a long and healthy retirement.
Very best wishes
