Hi all
I am after some hints and tips or any help,I wish to Zimmerit my KT,and I am trying to work out what is the best way to do it and what is the best product to use.The obvious thing to use is car body filler,but will it give the right effect.Can anybody enlighten me on what is the best and easiest product to use,as well as the best way to apply it.Any help will be appreciated.

The best product to use is Milliput (Red packet).Easy to use and easy to take off if you have made a Mistake.

hi gary i am currently applying a zimmerit finish on my k.t. i have been using bathroom waterproof tile adhesive mixed with p.v.a. glue and water, quick, easy, the paste when mixed gives you a long time to play around with the finish, and goes off like rock, once cured give it another coat of p.v.a. glue the consistancy of milk, then let it dry, just my method if it helps, mike stannard zim tools are a must if you can buy or borrow them. regards simon manning.

As Lee has said Milliput is the most widely used and I find the best and most hard wearing for our tanks.

Milliput. Need a few packs. I order them in 10 packs on ebay. Make application tools from DIY paint scrapers. Use a rolling pin to roll out in thin sheets between two sheets of greaseproof paper. Very hardwearing and takes paint well.

Standard yellow grey mix. buy in bulk on ebay.

Roll it out between sheets of greaseproof paper with a rolling pin. As thin as pissible the work onto the armour.

No need for the rolling pin mate if the Milliput is stiff due to temp 10 seconds in a microwave sorts that ... but don't let your better half catch you lol, then just push the putty into place using your thumbs you will soon get the hang of it a bit of practice on a piece of plate or biscuit tin is an idea before you start on the tank, and you don't want it looking too perfect Just my thoughts.

I probably am going to skip the zimmerite.I really love the clean lined of the tiger.
I am still looking for a late Mid-Tiger without it to model. I have been told it will have to be an SS unit in Normandy.

I think detailing all of the welds will be enough for me.
My big concern is the paint. There are some pretty high standards on this forum.
Can anybody suggest a good tutorial?

There was only 1 SS Abteilung in Normandy with mid production Tigers s.SS.Pz.Abt.101 LAH all the Tigers in this Abteilung had Zimmerit, s.SS.Pz.Abt.102 only had late model Tigers again all had Zimmerit, if you want a Tiger without Zimmerit then you must look at early production Tigers or a very small number of mud production Tigers these would have been the very first mid Tigers off the production line, if you have a mid production Tiger then you will have to back date the tool stowage.
