WHAT CAN WE PULL A 25 PDR WITH!
Hi All,
To complement Armortek new Kompact 25 pdr gun kit we need something like a British Quad Gun Tractor to pull the gun behind it along with a Ammunition & Fuel Limber in between them.
Cheers

Now there's an idea.
though looking at the Morris itself, I think scratchbuilding one wouldn't be too much of a hassle. Chassis would be pretty straightforward, just body and interior would require the most attention.

Now there's a thought or two Derek. (Good thinking!)
Would it be possible that a Quad Tractor Bodywork could be super imposed on a 222 Chassis?
Mark I have taken the liberty and hope you don't mind that I scanned one of your pages taken from the 222 Assembly Instructions page 11 to add a visual illustration of a Quad Tractor bodywork on top above your drawing of the 222 chassis to see how it would look, to see if it was possible to add, change the basic designed chassis of the 222. Of course there would be changes like a new spring assembly, housing and maybe a wider chassis for all I know!...But I can see that maybe the wheels and tyres of the 25 pdr might suite the quad and limber.
Anyway I would leave it up to you Mark, thinking of your future kits to design and produce, but it seems to me to be the logical step to complement your latest creation of the 25 pdr, to add a quad tractor and limber into a set of three.
My money would be on that set up and would hopefully like others who have bought the new 25pdr be interested in buying a quad and limber to pull your excellent gun behind.
Anyway for what it's worth, I have just ordered up one of your fantastic looking 25pdr guns.
Cheers

Hi Paul,
We merry band of 13+......Yes well I was only thinking it makes good sense to have something like a quad and limber to add to the 25 pdr gun. And it was Derek who thought it might look good on a 222 chassis.
I just picked up his idea to make a visual to see if it was possible adding a quad bodywork..
However I'm sure if other Armortek customers who have bought the 25 pdr gun hopefully make their own comments on the subject matter, it just might persuade Mark who I'm sure has taken note of our comments and think real hard if it's a good idea to produce the quad and limber for the 25 pdr kit.
Chers for noo

Re: WHAT CAN WE PULL A 25 PDR WITH!
Hi All,
Just had another look at what we can pull a 25 pdr field gun with.
Besides a Morris Quad.
A. The Morris Field Artillery Tractor was the main British vehicle used to tow the 25-pounder trailer and gun.
This version is a Morris C8 Mark III. Produced from 1942 until 1944.
How about a Chevrolet Quad.
B. The Chevrolet Quad was produced by Canada and mainly used by Commonwealth forces. And the 25-pounder barrel has a muzzle brake added.
Cheers

Hi Ian.
For reasons I cant quite pin down I think the Morris quad would be the best option

Here ya all go, a 1/6th scale Quad on YouTube, although our excitable host might need to get out a bit more and realise that not only will you soon see a few 1/6th scale Quads you can see all manner of all 1/6th scale Items including Famo's and 88's and 25 Pdr's.
It's a shame that the forum software doesn't seem to recognise BB video tags or I'd be able to embedd the video directly into the post! Any chance this can be addressed so folks don't have to leave the site to see a youtube video?

Hi Pete,
That was interesting video on YouTube, on a 1/6th scale Quad model!….apart from the shaky camera work, and excitable host!…...I'm sure some of the scaled up areas looked wrong around the front windows etc. But apart from that a fine looking model.
But better still, hope Mark sees this to encourage him in thinking of producing even better looking Quad for towing the 25pdr gun.
One can only live in hope!
Thanks for sharing this with us on the Forum

Well it was scaled up from a Dinky toy,but even so, he did do a good job on it. I love all the bits he made the drive train from, and put it under the floor pan too!I'm sure some of the scaled up areas looked wrong around the front windows etc. But apart from that a fine looking model.

Re: WHAT CAN WE PULL A 25 PDR WITH!
hi all,
sorry guys this might not go down to well...but how about a GMC CCKW?
only because l have a real one and the re-enactment group im in has 2 25pdrs, one gets towed by a GMC and the other gets towed behind a marmon herrington along with its limber, great looking set up!
anyway l like the quad but l think the GMC would be a great addition to the armortek 1/6 scale line up! well for me anyway!
check out GMRG's website for some great pics.
ok, if they did do a quad...l'd buy one
as lm saving for a 25pdr now!
cheers all,
gino.

In case you have not already seen this,to see what a 1/6 Quad looks like pulling a gun have a look at one of Robert Bruces videos on Youtube, under the heading Duxford Allies return.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for pointing out this great Youtube video on the Duxford Allies Return…..
Good to see a 25pdr being pulled by a 1/6th scale Quad tractor.
Hope Mark takes note of this and convince him that a Quad would do nicely pulling one of his 25pounder field guns!
Cheers
