Hi Guys,

I want to make some rubber ends to go on the Steve Winstone/Stephen White bump stops. Has anyone any advice as to what rubber would be suitable for molding these rubber ends?

Hallo Sarah,

some time ago I made rubbers for the Laufrollen of my sWS. I take GM959/GM959-1 from
Ebalta, it's a two-component polyurethane. I only knew a german distributor for it

I made my molds from aluminium. Here are two pics from the mold and from the result.
When the mold is closed, you have a funnel on the top and a screw downwords in the
middel. I haven't made a pic from the closed mold or attached to the drilling machine.
I put the mold with the middel screw on a drilling machine with slow rpm, then I fill
up the funnel with the polyurethane. The rest was done by gravitation and centrifugal
force. To dry it needs 15 hours at room temperature or you can speed it up with an
oven.

Maybe you can find a dealer in the UK or you can order from Ebalta.

I haven't found your casting rubber, but I have come across a similar product called 'Polytek Poly PT Flex Liquid Casting Rubber'. It comes in different hardnesses and can be dyed as well. Do you think this will be suitable?

it should work, the GM polyurethane has also a hardeness shore of 80-85
And this comrade has used the Polytek Poly PT too,

On your wheel mold, was the lettering cut by a CNC milling machine?

I am also very impressed with the idea of using an electric drill to apply centrifugal force.

Have a look at the link below this is where I get my rubber / fibreglass ect from.
There are different grades of rubber for the various jobs you require it to do.
Give Steve a phone of MB he`s the owner he will be only too happy to give you advice on the best grade (hard or soft)of rubber that would suit your needs.
They are in Northern Ireland and his prices are very good and fast postage as well.
They also have a shop on e-bay.

Yes the lettering was made by CNC.
But one small warning.
My rubber rings aren't tested and I can't say anything about durability yet. As far as I know the Ebalta polyurethane is for concret molding, so I thought it's hard enough for this job. With other "lyquid rubbers" I have no experiences and can only guess.
