First Person View video

Post by mick whittingham »

Hi all,

just been to my local model centre and been shown FPV or first person video flying equipment. The idea being that a miniature video camera is mounted on the model with a transmitter sending live pictures back to a receiver. This receiver is linked to a TV monitor or a pair of virtual reality goggles so that you see what the model does.

Hope this is not insulting anyone's intelligence, but has FPV been fitted to anyone's tank? I really liked the idea and will be adding a set to my Christmas list this year.

Pictures were crystal clear and it would be amazing to drive the tank from the driver hatch as it were.

Its not too expensive either with a full set up in the region of £300 which on the scale of things is not much at all.

Let me know if anyone has any knowledge of this type of system with regards land based models rather than helicopters where it seems to have been born.

Best regards,

Mick

Hi Mick,

It sounds like you have been looking at a Flycamone HD. I have used a few different FCO models over the years, you can see some of the affects you can get on my YouTube page and the Nord West Kampfgruppe web page.

Hello Mick.

This sounds very interesting as you say the fly boys will know about it but I have not come across it at all, if as you say it records live image that can be sent back to goggles  I can imagine this will provide a very different driving challenge and require plenty of space till you got the hang of it.
Looking forward to an update, cant you get it sorted for your birthday if its sooner
Cheers Paul.
