Mid Tiger Track Link Count

Hello everyone,
I am wondering if there is a common wisdom on the number of track links a mid Tiger should have? I am running 97 per side right now, and have had to tighten the idlers up quite a bit to keep the sprockets from jumping links.

Also, what fluid works best for the exhaust smoke system?
