New Tiger owner

Hi
I am now the proud owner of a very early Tiger mid production tank, produced, apparently by the original Armotek company, it has an updated speed control unit, and I have charged the batteries and the tank runs like a dream. My problem is with the R/C unit, it is a Sanwa VG600, so the tank runs, and the turret rotates, but I am having trouble with the barrel elevation, the motor works and it elevates, I swapped the plugs to try it, but I have no
idea which control setting on the R/C unit is supposed to operate the elevation, any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you
William

Hi William and welcome to the forum.
When you say "it has an updated speed control unit" - does it still have the Electronize switching units to control the elevation and turret traverse motors ?
If you look the Armortek Gallery here:
http://www.armortek.co.uk/Gallery/index ... grams-3-15
you'll find the original wiring diagrams for your Tiger.
It may be helpful if you could post some pictures of the wiring for tank, so we can see how it looks now.
To find out which control on the transmitter affects which channel, it's easiest to fit a standard servo to each channel on the receiver, then move each control until you find the one which makes the servo respond.
If you search for "airtronics VG600 manual" with your favourite search engine, you'll find you can download a PDF of the manual from several places.
Adrian.

Adrian
thank you for the response, in answer to your question, yes it does have the original Electronize switching units for rotation and elevation, I will look at the manual, when I find it, and see if I can make head or tail of it, they all assume we are flying aircraft/helicopters!

I already had the wiring diagrams, so I checked through and all seems to be OK, the turret now moves in one direction, but the limit switches on the barrel do not function. I would also like to drive it with one lever, is this possible with this R/C unit or should I upgrade? Any help and advice is very welcome.

Hello william
Have you got power to the limit switches?
No it is not possible to do 1 stick on the Sanwa. You have to get a new Transmitter Futaba 7 channel.

Right so that is the end of the Sanwa then, I have not tested the limit switches for power, I am minded to purchase another R/C unit and then set the whole thing up from scratch, if I do it myself, then I know what I have done and can follow it much easier, I might also change the colour of some of the wiring as it is tough to trace through when every wire is either red or black. Thanks for the advice.

I have now bought a Futaba 7C so we will see how that works out, a bit of rewiring to be done, and I will still need some assistance please when it arrives, don't have any experience with R/C.

Hi
thanks for the help, with my new R/C unit, my tank now does exactly what I want it to and when, going to do a rewire to neaten everything up in the near future and look to further mods, sound and detailing, just glad to be able to go where I want, at the touch of a fingertip.
Onwards and upwards!
William
