2012 Tiger 1 Track Question

Post by Steven Raison »

Hey guys

So I'm fitting my track to my tank today, Witch is looking totally awesome BTW but i noticed that the lip on the edge of the track is blocking the tooth of the sprockets and wont aline.

Does that little edge need to be filed off?

Also i noticed a number 1 and number 2 on the tracks, do they need to be build in any specific order? i couldn't see any reference to it in the manual and couldn't see any noticeable difference between the tracks.

Oh Also, Are the sprockets held on with axle end caps?

I don't have a 2012 Tiger but in the manual for the 2010 Tiger, in the sprockets instructions it says "For best running reliability files the face of the teeth of each sprocket ring as shown in the illustration" and there's a picture showing a small chamfer taken off the tip of each sprocket ring.

The sprockets are held on by taper lock bushes - the instructions for these should also be in the sprocket section of the manual.

Yes i filed all the teeth of the sprocket but the lip of the track covers almost half of the width of the tooth

Looks like you may have your sprockets the wrong way round. The recess is supposed to face outwards of the hub, not inwards

Yes definitly sprockets wrong way round. Reset them with the recess of both sprockets facing away from the hub. Pic of my sprocket

Sorry - didn't spot they were that far out of alignment

Bob's correct - the flat side of the gear ring goes against the sprocket centre and the recessed side faces outwards.
