2 new photo books

Post by martin pitcairn »

I have ordered and recieved 2 great books on late war armour, both are by steven Zaloga and are called "Armored attack 1944 " and "Armored victory 1945". and are from Stackpole Books (usa) available from Amazon here.

They are 500+ pages hardback and have 1000+ photos each, they cover the D day to Battle of the bulge and then on to the end of the war. they are mainly covering US armour but there are hundreds of pictures of german armour, captured equipment etc, i have found both books great and have seen lots of pictures that i have never seen before as well as example of field conversions of US tanks etc.

Hope this helps
Martin

"Armored Attack 1944" has been panned on Amazon - only two reviews and both only two stars.

What do you think of the quality of the pictures ?

I bought softback versions of the "Tigers In Combat" books and the image quality in those was appalling, so wouldn't want to repeat that mistake.

The pictures are fine, as good / better as i have seen in other books, most are of us armour but there are lots of german armour as well. Most of the german tanks are abandond or wrecks and most photos show the hit locations. the books also show lots of captured french, check and russian equipment used in the battles.

I found the books fine, others may not but then i would have to ask what were they wanting out of the books?

Thanks Martin.

One of the reviews did complain that 485 pages out of 500 were full of pictures - sounds like my ideal book
