Panzer IV F1 (No. 19)

Post by Günter Gäbelein »

Hello to all,

my kit (No. 19) arrived on November 24th. It is my first Armortek kit and I am very impressed! The plan is to build a F1 version with the short barrel.
Kind regards
Günter

Hello to all,

my constuction of the Panzer IV is similar to that of Nick, so I haven't posted pictures until now. In parallel to the build up of the hull I have constructed some parts to recreate the cannon inside the turret. First I ordered the interior detail part from Tim, but then I found some pictures and drawings of the gun interior of the L24 gun. The interior of the L24 gun is different to the L48 gun and I decided to make it by myself. The plan is, to make the recoil also for the interior of the gun. i have two small cylinders which I will combine with the same valve like Stephen used for his Panzer III.

Hi Adrian,

yes I have a small portal milling machine. I used 10mm thick polystyrene plates, milled discs and glued them together.
Kind regards

Hello,

it is going forward. I have changed the drivers sight and the hatches. I have milled new periscope inserts for the cupola and also a new commanders hatch. The gun has got also a few new parts. Next will be the new caps for the wheels. In January I will get a new idler wheel, I have already sent the construction data to the caster.

Great work. I like what you have done with the cupola view ports. I was wondering how these worked as I want to make the glass blocks for this.

Hi Gunter,
Superb work on your Panzer 4. The L24 gun is amazing. I am interested to see what the new idlers look like. Are you having them cast from aluminum or zinc-alum alloy? Excellent work and interesting modifications. Kind regards,
Bob

Bob,

I will get the idler wheel casted from aluminium (this is the plan). The caster will make the idler in January.
Kind regards
