Panzer IV Build 002
My kit 002 arrived today. Told the missus I'll be living in the garage and to bring my meals to me. Nicely crafted parts. Glad I took the plunge & will now consider my second tank to order.

Hi Ray, Looks like a good sized sturdy workbench. Those drawers could be really useful for all those small bags. Check inventory first and make sure everything present. Gill is a first class packer but better to know early on if anything was missed and you can get it sorted out now. Some kind of lift will be useful even though the kit is no Tiger the weight will go on quickly.
Something like this one.

Re: Panzer IV Build 002
first thing Idid was an inventory. took 2 1/2 hrs to make sure I had it all. The work bench is custom made. Under my instruction and guidance one of my carers (a woman) cut, drilled, sawed, screwed, hammered and laquered the bench. Which is what they will do for me with the P4.
Bit worried about OH&S for your tiger crewman John....hahaha.
cheers.

Re: Panzer IV Build 002
I'vfe finally got the bottom hull plates on, the bogies and axles on and have had my 1st attempt at spray painting. Certainly wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. Then again I suppose 1st timers always find things slow going trying to make sure everything fits and moves as it should. Having others building helps checking peices are in the right spot.
Paint used is a wattyl supr ech primer than comes out like an olive drabish color. I'll post pictuures shortly.
cheers.

Takes a while to build up confidence. Better to take your time. Check everything twice. Good that you are etch priming. Looking forward to photos.

Hi Ray
sound like your doing alright like john said check every thing twice then check it again ,its easy to get carried away though(i do ) if your spaying from a can not to close and light coats only for starters until yopu get more confident. If you can with the smaller items warm them on the radiator before you spray them ,that way the paint drys quicker and less chance of getting runs you can allso use a hairedryer to help .Happy building

Re: Panzer IV Build 002
thanks lee. i'm bolting on the running gear to the sides then flipping the hull over to bolt it to the underneath. i assume this is the easiest way. well it worked for me.

Re: Panzer IV Build 002
g'day. an update on progress. thanks to nick for his private help. i feel like i'm posting what everyone has seen. as you can see i've been plodding along and switched to spray can etch primer. so much easier for smaller peices on the build. less cleaning also. thats the reason for different colours. some pictures show bolts and nuts untightened. once rear is attached and all bits are tightened the world will be balanced again.
The beauty of a workbench on wheels. Move it to wherever you want.
