Tiger mudguards

Post by simon fuller »

Does anyone know what tank/unit carried a rear mudguard with checker-plate folding flap.
Many thanks for any help.

Cheers, SF.

Hi Simon,

This Tiger I mudguard was dug up in Latvia in the Kurland region.

Image

Only s.Pz.Abt 502 and 510 was in that area.
Late November 1944 s.Pz.Abt 502 was shipped out from the pocket leaving all their Tiger I to 510.
I say this one is from s.Pz.Abt 510.
Most probably an in field work and strange how they bothered to replace the lost one.

Kind regards
Kent

Many thanks Kent,

Truth be told the unit shown in your picture was my reason for asking.

I saw this on another website and i have communicated with Evgenij regularly over the last couple of years. I know he is keen to try and trace any pictures or authenticated information.

I have searched my Tiger resources and internet sites with plentiful photos and found nothing. Picture quality though is often a barrier to identification.

Evgenij is one of the good guys and it would be nice to help.

Regards, Simon.
