Photos from day at Bovington

Post by Dennis Jones »

Last Sunday at Bovington. There were six of us at the museum ( 3 Tigers, Half track, Sherman and my Comet) running round entertaining the public. Not many visitors today but they all appear when they hear the engines start up. We have also a piece of ground allocated to us outside the museum which we intend to set up and use as a proving ground when the weather gets a bit warmer and during the summer several of us lucky retired people will be there during the week as well as weekends, we have only done about four days so far but we have had very good comments from the public and the staff. We all live within 10 miles of Bovington so not too far to go.

If you guys are going to be at Bovvy again this weekend, could I beg a favour and ask that someone measure the height and diameter of the two sizes of cone heads on the rear of the Panzer III and the bore of the twin exhaust on the M10 tank destroyer ?

I'll be at TankFest but would be grateful of this information in advance.

Many thanks

Adrian.

Cone Heads

Post by Stephen White »

Evening Adrian

From my notebook - I measured the larger cone heads as 33.27mm in diameter and 19mm depth (height?)

All the best. See you at Tankfest.

Hi Adrian,

No we were not at Bovvy this weekend as we were appearing at a local steam festival show, supposed to have been Sat & Sun but the weather has intervened in today's appearance, but we had a good day yesterday.

Good to see some models getting out and about Dennis - though it does look like the Comets are taking over the lead from the Tigers

I hope you didn't let that kid ride over the bridge - it looks like he's lining up for it
