Hi guys,
Is it only mine or more of our KTs have the little issue that the saukopf mantlet will dropped-down a little bit (as the red arrow indicated) during her moving? If yes, how did you fix it?

Hello Lerh

Drill and tap a hole underneath the mantlet and the use a grub screw to fix to the barrel. Simples

Thanks leesellars and Paul.
Glad to know it's not only my problem, and a solution is already there.
I'll fix it, once for all.
Thanks!

Chang, when you have made the fix, can you post a photo so i can see, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this hands on stuff, more at home on a keyboard ;-P

On the subject of drilling and tapping, I was just going to buy some, what are the best sizes to get, the smallest I have seen are M2.5

cheers

Hello Conrad . I did the same thing to my KT .. Just buy a 2.5mm drill bit plus a M3 tape .. Scribe a centre line on the underside of the mantlet drill the 2.5 mm hole . I then drill a 3.5mm clearance hole only about half way through the hole , then tape the last half with the M3 tape then add your M3 crub screw . Dale

So just to clarify, I drill the hole in the underside of the mantlet or on the turret under the mantlet? I know its probably simple but so am I lol

Does the grub screw just act as a sort of stanchion to push the mantlet away from the turret a bit?

cheers for being patient

Hi Conrad .., I don't have my KT with me to take a photo maybe the other guys can post a photo . The grub screw stops the mantlet from sliding off centre ... Dale

Hi Conrad.

The grub screw works in the same manner as the the ones you fitted into your torson bar sytem, all it has to do in this case is "nip" the rear of the gun tube as Dale says to stop it from slipping. So you are not drilling a hole in the turret but in the large casting that the gun tube slides into see Lerh's photo.

Cheers Paul. P.S. did you get my reply?

Thanks Guys, I understand now, I think if I had encountered this problem it would have made sense quicker lol. Just checked my emails Paul and my wife had read it so I didn't spot it in my crowded inbox, reading it now, thanks Paul.
