Panzerkampfwagen IV/III Kommandandtenkuppel

Post by Tim Bowman »

Hi everyone

Started on the last part/assembly for my Panzer IV project. The plan is to have functional (or at least positionable) vision ports. The external armor will be the latter 80mm thickness. Not an expert on Panzer III changes, so I do not know which versions this would have been used on. Ausf L and later maybe?

I intended to spend the day completing the Gunner's Vision Port for the turret but was sidetracked by the cupola. It is not 100% complete nor completely accurate yet (especially the exterior armor) but I like to get all the parts in the assembly views and then refine them as one unit. So, here's what I have so far.

Looks good Tim.

I am following this with keen interest for both my P3 and P 4 builds.
Thanks,

Jim

Tom

They look stunningly good. The cupola is such a prominent part of the Pz III/IV that it's crying out for detail. I'm abroad at the moment but will check my references when I get home. The Panzer Tracts and Trojca books both have detailed drawings, especially the latter. Wonderful work as always thanks for sharing
