Q. re Batteries

Post by Pete Mallett »

I was thinking of picking up a couple of these to run the Comet with...

I might also get a few for my early Tiger 1 which is in the process of being rebuilt. Can anyone comment if these will work OK with the Comet and the Early Tiger 1?

Pete

PS Will I need one or two per tank? Two I suppose will extend the running time

Hi Pete.

You'll certainly need two batteries, to give you 24V.

Those that you have listed look a little on the small side to me. I use a pair of 22Ah batteries for the Sherman, which is a similar size to the Comet.

I think the Tiger may benefit from larger still, though I don't have a runner to confirm that.

Adrian.

Hi Pete,

You should go for "Deep Cycle" batteries that you can find under the "golf trolley" heading like this one http://www.hardwarexpress.co.uk/golf-ba ... 1683-p.asp and further

Pete,

I agree that deep cycle are the most suitable, I use deep cycle gel batteries in all my models, and I go for the largest that I can fit in the available space (within reason - up to 45ah). I don't know what the Comet will take yet, once I get the option pack in I will see what room is then available.

Hi

The recommended battery size for the Comet is the standard 20AmpHour units, as used in the other tanks.
