Questions.
Is it possible to identify specific tanks by either internal and /or externally stamped chassis or turret numbers [ 25* *** ]. Assuming chassis and turret stayed together ?
Is there a source for record of these numbers. If so, does it give any idea of first unit distribution from the factory ?
Regards, SF.

Hi Simon
One of the Tiger books I have has a list of chassis numbers, production dates and units they were sent to. It is not 100% complete and I am not sure of how accurate it is but maybe it will give you the answer you are looking for?
Kind regards
Tim

What book are you refering to with the list of numbers.
Cheers,

Hi Simon
The book is "The Modeler's Guide to the TIGER TANK" by Patrick A. Stansell. Highly recommend it. It covers both Tiger I and Tiger II production variations and details and has lots of techniques, tips etc. It is for 1:35 scale but equally useful of course for 1:6 scale.
Kind regards
Tim

Again, many thanks for your suggestion.
I have a copy of this book and the numbers at the back [ from the 'Fgst' number they seem to be the internal 'completed' number.]
Sadly ,i am looking for a couple in the 251 *** [ external basic tank] bracket and they are not a part of this listing.
There must be some record somewhere. Just have to keep on digging around i guess.
As an aside, i very much enjoy this Tiger 1 forum, it's full of inspiration and i can look at Tigers and bits of Tigers coming together all day long [ given half a chance ]. Wish i had a larger wallet.
Regards, Simon.
