King Tiger Hull assembly Help.

Post by John Grima »

Hello everyone, I have just pulled the tank out of storage to start the project. When I tried to assemble the lower hull I encountered an unforeseen problem.

When I went to bolt the suspension bar to the lower hull plate I realized that the bars don't install the way they are represented on the diagram.

The two bars are exactly the same. They have the same holes, the same treading in the same locations. When I tried to mount them to the lower plate they appear to be duplicates of each other and are not reversible.

When I even tried to place them on the hull side plates they don't line up properly. They both wanted to be lined up upside down, on both of the hull plates exterior sides! When mounting to the bottom plate, to make them resemble the one in the diagram I need to invert and flip the bars. This inverts the treading positioning the threading towards the inner part of the hull away from the hull plates, which means the plates now can't be bolted into the bars and is the incorrect way to mount the parts.

Are the bars supposed to be mirror images of each other, or am I doing something wrong? I have not seen any other person report this problem so I'm confused to what I'm seeing. Any help will be greatly appreciated. John

Hi John

I think you may have incorrect suspension bars.

I will get Mark to check in the morning and of course if this is the case we will replace them for you.

best wishes

Hello John . This is good news that you have a King Tiger !! I'm looking forward to your build .. When Gill sends out your new bars make sure you test the threads for the M5 cap heads , that locks your torson bars end a couple of my ones need a tap run through to clean them best to check now ... Hi John.

Unfortunately you do have a pair of duff suspension bars. We will send you two shiny new ones. They are identical, not a handed pair, but those that you have are wrong.

Regards
Mark
