Hello Chaps

Does any one who uses a benidini sound system use different way of switching it on, not via the joy stick.ie key fob etc.I want to do that to my Panther.

I use the Quasar 10 system from Hunter Systems at http://www.huntersystems.co.uk/acatalog ... ntrol.html

It's a UHF system, which is independent of your transmitter. It has 4 buttons which control 10 different funtions using different combinations of buttons. I have mounted mine inside my transmitter with 4 buttons on the front panel.

Main problems I've come across are :

1/ Range is not as far as main radio control system.
2/ Requires a 12 voly supply. I use a seperate battery mounted between the drive motors to power it and my Benedini sonud system and amp.

A possibly better solution I have seen used is a 8 way switch unit which uses a spare channel on your transmitter, so there is no reduction in range. have a look at http://www.pandanmodelboats.co.uk/acata ... s_235.html This is a future project for me, so if yiou are happy to wait, I'll let you know what I think.

Talk to Gary Comber at UKTC he uses this system.
You have to solder a coulpe of wires to the tranie board
but it gives 10 buttons so its one button per sound on Armortek sound unit.

Sounds like a good idea. The 8 way switch unit from Pandan Models is currently out of stock, and I'm waiting for a reply to an email I sent them.

When I get my hands on one, I'll give it a go. If it's anything like the Hunter Systems 10 channel switch unit, there's some soldering and a lot of extra wiring involved.

I'll keep you posted on any developments.

that would be good to see i have the old set up push stick one way x times for a sounds and the other to activate too messy looking forward to seeing a detailed diagram

The easiest way of getting away from the stick method of sound activation is to buy Benedinis 12 posoition rotary switch encoder.It needs just 2 holes drilled in the transmitter case for a rotary switch and a push button switch. You select the sound you want with the rotary switch and push the button to activate it. It plugs into 1 of the proportional channels. It means you loose the use of one of the control sticks unless you're lucky enough to have more than 4 proportional channels.

The loss of a channel was the main reason for using the Hunter UHF system, but it has its limitations, so I'm investigating other options.

I think the prefered option for most people would be to push1 button for 1 sound, not twiddling sticks, or trying to push multiple button combinations.

This post has made me put my thinking head on. Haven't done that for a while. Hurts a bit when I think to hard I'll have to mull this over a pint of beer.

thanks for that i actualy have / had the rotary system from thomas i burnt it out still havent figured out how so i got another one but thomas sent the stick type so i stuck with it,me and electonics dont mix to well oh to have a plug and play system it would make me a happy tanker

What burnt out? If it was the sound board, it can be reprogrammed to the rotary setector mode. It's explained in the instructions under "Parameter settings:" pages 12 & 13.

all i remember is seeing smoke and heat comming from it and me in a panic to turn off the power if i remember it was from the power leads on the board i took out the sound chips and dumped the rest a bit angry at the time

Hi guys.


A friend of mine has a Benedini encoder fitted to his Futaba 6exap 40mhz.
This is wired up to channel 6 which has a proportional flaps knob on it.
Now down to the tricky bit.Does any one have any idea how to do this on a 6exa 2.4 ghz that has a two position switch for channel 6.
On a quick look inside, both of these radio's they look almost the same.
This is where my electronics knowledge runs out.

I've tried adding the pot from a 40MHz 6exap to a 2.4GHz 6ex but that channel is programmed to only generate a high/low signal, so it makes no difference whether there is a switch or a pot attached.

Until Futaba see that changing this pot for a switch was a retrograde step, I'm afraid this channel is pretty much useless.

Hi All
Can anybody help me with how to wire a Bendini Encoder into a Futaba 7C 2.4GHz Transmitter? I have a feeling it ought to be not too dificult, but I have tried looking on the web for published help and drawn a blank!
