Up date on my early Tiger I

Hi Brian,

you are pulling my leg. OK its a shame with my build. When my kit was supplied on 06.11.2004 I had the intention to finish it in 2 or 3 years. Now after all I'm over the top but still a way to go. Some pictures to please you and Dale.

And last not least when I pulled Brian out of the problem zone.

The gun was in the overholing shop for a better ( lighter ) recoil. The hatches are not ready, the Feifels are missing, the hooks on the rear grills are missing and and and.

Thank's for the comments Rocky and Brian. I will let you know when the package arrives. For the builders asked questions on the rear deck here some shots on more detailing items.

Those grills however came in white metal and are different to the new alu design. Very havy but after all they look satisfying. The shape of the very rear ones with the curved blades have been a night mare to modify. Don't forget the casing numbers !

Great looking modifications Roland

Is there any technical or manufacturing reason for the fact the the cross beams on the grills don't go all the way across on alternating beams

Hi Adrian,

those grills are mainly designed for protection against smaller granades from top. Therefore they must be somehow flexible for vibrations created by a granade. If the structure would be completely solid fixed in its frame, it may fall out its framework when stress aplied. On top there are enormes temperature differences between winter and full speed in Africa. Again stress by lenght differential coefficience.

To keep all strenghs for the main task, the design takes care not to build up to many other forces during normal operation.

Thanks for the explanations Roland, I think the changes in size due to temperature would be a problem with such a thick casting.

It's good that the 2010 Tiger grills have such thick bars, but there is a lot of material to come off before they have the correct profile, as yours have.

Maybe now is a good time to buy shares in Dremel

Will you paint the name she had at front?

Kent, thank you for your compliments. I have never seen before a name on the early Tiger. In the photo you submitted I can clearly see the Tiger above the drivers armor but the name is not clear to me. What is the tactical no. of this Tiger ?

And no, my Tiger will not have a name.

Thank you Kent for this link. After reading the comments I belive there are some people feel important by falling into love with speculations. At least more than half of the comments are without facts but a lot of belive.

Anyway, interesting site just for the photos I have never seen before. Thank's again. In the end of the day I will not change my plans for the tactical number and the name. Here and there another well placed hit is what I will copy from the original photos of 241.
