Query regards video recording

Post by Dave Hill »

I have looked at several video excerts that have been posted on this forum and have a question.
A friend has directed me towards FlyCamOne a remarkably cheap video recording device.
What i really like in the video clips seen on this forum are the shots taken from a camera attached either to the top of the turret or fixed on the gun barrel - giving a view as seen from the commander.
The reason for this submission is that to get the true potential from this device mentioned above it needs 2 free channels to operate.
1 channel needs to stop/start the other channel can be used to swivel the camera head in vertical and horizontal axis

my query regards the transmitter - is the Futaba 6EX up to the task or should i look further up the model range.

meanwhile i see that my bank balance will be lightened by the call for funds to get some metal

Hi Dave

I don't think the 6EX is really up to the job. You need a minimum of 5 channels to operate your tank properly, 6 if you use a blank firer. The Futaba 7C would be better. It has an extra channel on a rotary switch which you could use to move the camera head.

If you do decide to get one, be sure to let us know what you think of it.

Cheers

Mick

Hi Dave,

Are you thinking of the Fly Cam 3 as this has it's own remote control to swivvel the camera and tilt. Also there are bringing out the goggles so as you turn your head the camera turns to. This is what I'm going for as I think it's too much to do to drive the tank and turn the camera from the TX. I haven't enough fingers and thumbs :? . Anyway I look for to seeing your video's soon  .

Thanks Antony

thanks for the feedback.
the only item that i am not really interested in regards the Tiger
is the blank firing ; ALL other items are on my must do/have list.
I will have to look at the rest of the range of Transmitters and build in redundancy channel wise

As for the goggles i understand that If used for flying aircraft a two buddy system HAS to be used for obvious reasons. as to me using a system as such i havent really thought much about it YET
its just the potential view from close to the ground rather than a video from a 'distance' that appeals to me.
