Sherman Klaxon sample?

Post by Fabrice Le Roux »

Hi,
Can anyone point me to a verifiable sound sample of the klaxon/siren fitted to WWII US vehicles. The same device appears to be fitted to a wide variety of AFVs so someone somewhere must have a restored working example!
Many thanks in advance.
Cheers, Fabrice

Hi Fabrice.

There's a short section on this video where they sound the klaxon.

I can't say whether it is authentic or not but it sounds similar to ones I heard on US vehicles in Normandy last summer.

Adrian.

Many thanks Adrian.
Wonderful clip of a hard charging M4. Siren a bit hard to pick out of the background but sounds more like a 1930s fire engine or ambulance than a "Beep Beep" Jeep or "Aah-Woo-Haa" type klaxon.
Anyone got a cleaner sample of the same thing?
cheers, Fabrice

Hi,
Don't often get closure on my own rambling threads. But I did get to record the klaxon on an M5 Stuart at last years War and Peace. And yes it is a 1930 wailing siren sound!
Get Thomas B. to put it on your US vehicle sound modules.
Cheers, Fabrice
