Older Women - Older Models

Post by Allan Richards »

Like older women I reckon older models can teach us a thing or two. Also just like women these models need a fair amount of TLC to get the best out of them.

I built my Tiger a few years ago and its been run quite hard however, over the last year or so its only been used a few times and pretty well ignored over the last 6 months. Its certainly paid me back for that over the last week. I wanted to run it in the snow but it wouldn't have it and I had no end of fiddly electrical problems mainly caused by poor contacts in the multipin plugs and sockets I'd fitted. The main problem being the SCART plug and socket which I used as a multipin plug to allow easy removal of the turret. My advice is don't bother using these as they are not corrosion proof in outside environments. The smoker had also clogged up with oil and the fans had to be cleaned to get them to work properly. The last thing was general corrosion of the wires caused by leaving the batteries connected. A bit of advice is to fully disconnect every battery (+ve & -ve) if you are not going to use the model for a while. I wish I could disconnect the wife sometimes - especially as I live much too close to Bluewater shopping centre!!!!

Hi Allan

Yep, just like the real thing (and the women as well) you have to look after them. They can be finnicky things in their own right and if you neglect them you will have to pay through the loss of fun and excitement, if you get my drift.

regards

Rick
