I wonder if anybody can help me on this one, I'm looking to fit aftermarket hatches & Periscopes to my Late Prod. Tiger 1 and two companies come to light, Armorpax & Mike Stannard (Icons Inc.). Can anybody recommend which company is the best in quality/detail/service or know of any other companies that offer quality accessories.
Can the Armorpax periscopes be fitted with glass or Perspex in order to replicate the prisms & will they fit the Late Tiger Cupola.
Some time ago I came across someone in the Craftsman's Market offering a working front light kit for the Tiger, does anybody know of the company who was selling this kit.
I'm also looking for German Insignia stencils for my Tiger, any links to companies would be a great help.

Mike,
Both company's are very good. Armorpax items such as periscopes are white metal and solid, so could not be fitted with scale optics. I've used parts from both suppliers on my early Tiger. Armorpax hatches, Stannard wing nuts, its just a matter of shopping for what you want. Another very good detail part supplier is Steve Winstone on this site, I think it was he who supplied the working lights.

You can search starting with this list of sources for detailing a Tiger which include Armortek of course, with their kit and option sets. Armorpak: who went way beyond the call of duty for me in making custom tarps, among other items. Vince Abbott: many wonderful detailing parts, animated crewmen (which I have not yet been able to obtain), although by now many of his parts are sold out or short supply. Mike Stannard: many, many, many pieces parts including tools, cables, a superb Pannier, hatches - and a coming Cupola that can accept custom made Periscopes with functioning glass prisms - great if you want to run a "Driver Cam" from inside. Pete Fertle: the best Tiger I 88mm gun barrel and other custom machining to attain a most accurate profile of the Turret, wheels, etc. Van Stewart: decals for the many small items including the Fire Extinguisher. Rich Stinchcomb: very accurate Engine Cover and much advice. Steve Winstone: awesome 20 ton Jack, working headlights, Starter Plate mod, shackles and many other detailing parts. Paul Morris: working Exhaust Flaps. Lee Sellars: detailing work, treatment of Tread Links, crew figures, Turret Cupola rain cover - camo'd. Lee is becoming a hub working with many sources as well as his own services.
Started the mid Tiger project in March 2006 and it's come along nicely, but is still not finished! Every time I get close to thinking it's done, someone else comes along with an add on that I must have! I'm now waiting for Stannard to come out with the Cupola and working periscopes to complete my Periscope/Prim outfitting.
The hunt seems to be a good part of the fun of it all though - don't know what I'll do if its ever finished

Hey Martin,
Since from your posting you seem to be extremely well-versed on the aftermarket for Tigers, do you happen to know who if anybody makes a set of hold-down latches for the front hinged mud flaps? I have never seen a set of these made by anybody, but I'd sure like a pair. I'm not so good at soldering or welding, which is what it would take for me to fashion my own creations....

Hi Dough,
I can answer that question (hope you don’t mind Martin)
No, no one does it - not for sale any way to my knowledge.
Mike came closest some years ago as seen here:
"The retaining latch for the front mudguards will not be offered at this time. They are just too small to make a working latch at a reasonable cost. I may in the future offer them as a non working part for display purposes."

As we speak of working +150kg models here, this tiny piece probably want survive one day of careless driving
But me as a "hard core" rivet counter will probably add it on my Late Tiger1 anyway...
Cheers
