Wiring problems

Post by Heinz Felgemacher »

Hello.

I´ve just started building the electric.Armortek delivered the new PCB Control Box. The information given are quite poor.I´m using the recommended Futaba 2,4 Ghz R/C.

My Questions are :(

1.What is to be connected to the switch unit 48B-2W ? In which manner ? Which R/C channel is to be used ?

2.On the PCB are two lines black and red with strange plugs ? Where to put ? Where can I get the male plugs for them ?

3. How to connect the 24 V motor turret ?
Which channel is to be used for it ?

4. What is the best way lining the batteries using a 12 V lead charger ?

Does anybody have photos or schematics showing the correct wiring ? This would be very useful to me.

Best wishes to all

Heinz

Hello Heinz,

I have the 222 with the old control box and the US halftrack with the new box, so I hope that I can help you.
1) The switch unit is used to control the turret rotation (your question 3).
You can find the connection instructions in the manual or here http://www.armortek.co.uk/gallery/main. ... temId=6588.
You can use a switch channel ( on/off/on ) or a joystick to operate the turret rotation.
2) The two wires with the "exotic" plug are the main power connection to the batteries. You will find the male plug on the "battery lead" CJ 0449.
3) See above under 1
4) To charge the batteries with a 12 V charger you have to connect the batteries in parallel. Make 2 short leads to connect the both + and - poles of the batteries and connect the charger leads to the + and - pole of one of the batteries. If you have to enter the battery capacity into your charger, do not forget to add the capacity of the two batteries together.
It is recommended to keep the batteries together as a pair in use and during charging.
Good luck !
Cheers,
Ad

Hi Heinz.

> 3. How to connect the 24 V motor turret ?

These two go together - the turret motor is operated by the 48B-2W switch unit.

Regarding channels, my preference is for the steering and main motor control to be on one of the transmitter sticks, with the turret traverse and gun elevation on the other. The channels you need to use vary depending upon the transmitter you have. I would recommend you connect a servo - possibly the gun elevation on, to each of the channels on the receiver in turn and make a note of which stick motion operates which channel. You can then set up the 222 the way you want it.

On which PCB are these plugs - Power Supply Module or Auxillary Module ?

> 4. What is the best way lining the batteries using a 12 V lead charger ?

As the batteries are quite difficult to reach once they have been installed in the 222, I would recommend getting a 24V charger and charging them as a pair.

Adrian.

Hi Ad and Adrian,

Thanks you very much für your hints.
:)
I´ll try a test run on my desk tomorrow or on Sunday.

Ad, where do you live in NL ? My hometown is just 5 km away from the Dutch border.

Heinz.
