Stewart, Dale,
I think a SDKFZ 7 with a punch (guns) would be awesome! Please do it! If I had the dough I would buy one and build it with guns! I like the armored cab - so I would go with Dales version.

They are both mean looking tracks....

Hi Bob

If I could find detail drawings especially of the drop down sides I would
seriuosly consider making this version of the 7 :?:

The 38 gun already has the correct mountings 8)

Stewart,
Dragon just came out with both of these models in 1/35. I would get one and use that for a pattern/drawings. That would be one of the coolest SD7's if you did make it with the quad 20mm mount - in my humble oppinion! You already have the gun! I like the 37mm and armored cab a little better, but the quad mounted 7 is studly too.

Stewart,
I prefere the look of the 20mm quad version, but if you were to do a radio control build rather than a static build the armoured cab would be the best option, It gives you more room for rc equipment.

Bob

I think I will finish it as the standard 7 but I will copy certain parts and I
will take measrements of the main deck with the mudguards in place as
this will give me a good sense of scale. I have found some good quality
photos. I will have to find a larger deck plate :?:

I should be able to convert it from the 7 to the 7/1 and vice versa when
ever I feel like doing so :)

This is for the future and should be possible to do with various fixing
changes and brackets.

Still trying to imagine them coupled up!!

Steve you are correct but there is no way I would ever be able to make it
r/c due to its weight and my gammy back.

Also the version with the original mudguards would make it easier for
me to build.

As Fabrice said there is a 7/2 taking shape near Oxford very very slowly.

Andrew,
Thanks for posting the pictures. I for one am very excited about your conversion. Looking very good so far. What will you make the armored cab from?

Is that a scratch built flak gun? Beautiful job.

Thanks for posting the photos!

Many thanks all, unfortunately it is progressing verrryyy slooowwwwllllyyy!

The Flak 37 was made by Dave Toothill and is a fantastic piece of modelling (way out of my league!). The cab will be either aluminium or steel. Currently the QED controllers are mounted under the bonnet (hood for those of you west of Cornwall) as well as the Armortek wiring box. The batteries will be mounted in the cab plus anything else left over!

Next update 2014!
