Kill rings - black or white?
I thought there was something missing
Having looked at dark camo guns they all have white barrel rings
painted on and then I found a sand coloured gun with black ones.
It makes sense but is it correct?
Regards Stewart

Hi Sven
Yes thats the three colour camo for the battle of the bulge era
and if you look at my 88 post you might well recognise the clipped number plate
catch 22?
Or is it?
I think that the individual commander would designate what colour
rings to paint the kill rings assuming he cared or could even get hold
of any paint?
Food for thought or utter carp?
Regards Stewart

Something i found in the book :
Die 8,8 Flak im Erdkampf-Einsatz
Janusz Piekalkiewicz
Maybe this can help you find the answer
White Markings
A lot of White Markings
You're second picture ? (Creil, city nord of Paris)
Last but not least Black and White markings ? ? ?
Nord-Afrika, Shortage of paint or is there a meaning...?
Havent red the book so far,its in German wich takes a bit more time to read...
Greetings from Belgium

Hi Sven,
It certainly looks as though white were applied to dark coloured
guns and black to sand ones.
Yes the second picture is the Creil gun;

There are some wonderful photos here.

In the last picture they used both marking colors...
It sure is a beautifull peace of equipement the 88...
My hart bleeds nowing when i was to young there was still one standing in a field here in Belgium.Off course this day it is already long gone, if not it would be standing in my garden.
Pitty that Armortek has no more models and they're not gonna build them anymore...
If the pictures i sent could be of any help, i'm glad...
Regards

Hi Stewart
I've been enjoying the "kill ring" thread.
I don't think there was a "wrong" choice for you. Black or white. I'm sort of partial to the subdued look of the black ones though. Well done!
I think the armor/ship/plane silhouettes painted over the stripes is a cool look too. I haven't seen that before.
Kind regards
Tim
