detailing the inside

Post by Jeffrey Goff »

I have made a start on the inside, by putting in the rear ventilation wall, this separates the crew and engine compartments, there is a hinged door at each end at the top, presumably for access to the fuel tanks, I still have to make the canvas blind for the grill, and put on the equipment brackets

More excellent work Jeff. I know that this is going to be a superb model and a joy to follow the build through. I think that the 222 makes an excellent subject for a detailed model.

I had today off because of the weather but it was too cold in the garage to do any work. You will see from my pictures that I took the Tiger out for a run in the deep snow. Its the deepest we've had for 20 years. If this gcold weather contines I am going to have to talk the wife into having the Sherman and compressor in the kitchen to paint the Turret - don't think thats going to go down that well somehow, but I am getting really cheesed with this cold.

made a start on the engine bay, by making the radiator, and the large eight bladed fan, I have also been playing around with a 1/6th V8 engine block,(1940s Ford) I will adapt it to look like the Horch,

Jeff,

That engine bay looks really good. Where did you get the 1/6th scale flat head Ford from? I am not sure what engine the 222 had in it, was it a V8?

Hi Allan, I have been snowed in today, I got as far as the M1, and even at 6.30am it was chaos,so I went home and played instead, the 222 did have a 3.2 or 3.8cc V8 engine, the closest I could find was the Ford flat-head, $29 from the USA, I have chopped it up a bit, and will add the German mods, it still looks better than an empty space

Hi Jeff:

Outstanding work - I'm dong my best to keep up the excellent standard set by you in modeling - keep up the great work and keep those pics coming - they inspire us!

Do you think Mark (Armortek) will ever make a 1/6 scale Engine Kits for all there models. Even if you can't fit them in all vehicles they would be a outstanding addition to any display or diorama. How about it Mark?

Hi Joe,

For the big German beasts there is a 1/6 scale Maybach engine.

Jeff,

This snow is beginning to get on my wick as well. I just want it to warm up a little. I am sure that the engine will look the business when you have finished with it. A 3.2-3.8 V8 must have been working quite hard in this vehicle as they would not have had a lot of horsepower in the 1940's

My father used to own a 1930's Vauxhall and although that only had a straight 6 instead of a V8, it still (supposedly) developed (when new) a full 14hp

Hi AL:

After talking last year with the Steel Dragons in south Florida I ordered one of JW Goode's 1/6 HL 230 P45 - Early Engines - it should be completed soon, cant wait to get it!

The Steel Dragons had noting but praise on his detail and said that one of them decided not to put it in there Tiger because it was such a conversational piece at shows. I think mine will be a stand alone piece also.

JW won't be making these forever and anyone that wants one should contact him as soon as possible, he offers the 2 styles and some neat 1/6 scale shop equipment.

I have added some detail to the engine block and plumbed it into the radiator, I have also made and fitted the two side fuel tanks, I am only going to add a few more details to the engine, then leave it be

Jeff,
The engine looks really really cool tucked in the rear end of the 222. Great idea and nice work!
