Lone Hunter in the Snow

The deepest snow for many years fell last night here in north Kent. No trains, so no work. I couldn't resist getting the Tiger out for a play and to take some photos. It goes well, better than any 4X4 but one has to be carefull of filling the tracks with snow otherwise things jam up just like the full size tank.

Hi Allan, looks like you are enjoying the snow, I had to drive 50 miles to work, thankfully most of that was on the M1, I left early afternoon as the weather deteriorated, good news I got some work done on the 222, and unlike your large garage my small garden shed soon warms up

I was thinking about the snow sticking to the tracks

. Did you drive forwards then back to remove some of the snow off the tracks or did it just fall off

I have just finished a little work on my Panther and aim to get up early in the morning and take it out for a spin in the snow.

Anthony,

The snow really sticks to the tracks and wheels and builds up pretty rapidly. You have to be careful otherwise tracks can break. It tends to build up around the return roller worst, so keep the turns progressive and avoid skid turns and pushing the snow into the tracks. Once the snows been flattened a little ist no problem.

I had her up and running again in a couple of minutes, I'm getting good at this fixing a track link now

Anthony, Richie,

You are much quicker thn me fixing track links if you can do them in a few minutes. The pins are pretty tight in my Tiger now and its a pain to get them out. Last time it happened was a while ago and it took me about 2 mins to get things sorted. After doing the photos I flattened the snow down and made some snow ramps to climb, the tank never slipped once, not even on the smoothest of snow - who needs 4X4's!!
