Oil Drum Colour

Can anyone help me identify the colour of the oil drum on the back of the Panzer III :?: In between the rings is looks very light :?

Hi Ant,

Looking at the photo and the way the barrel is shining, I would hazard a guess that it is bare metal, just compare the shine on the belt buckle to the barrel!

Hi Paul,

It seems you are right. The Germans, according to a few experts never painted their fuel barrels as below. They were made of zinc or similar with metal rings which were liable to rust.
