Hi Guys, I've had a bit of an issue with Dunkelgelb FOSCO spray paint I'm using on my Elefant and I'm hoping you can help!
I did two test areas on the bottom and rear of my tank and the paint has gone dusty and rough, which has confused me. The bottom of the tank was Simoniz etch primed and then had a layer of Simoniz red oxide primer applied The rear just had etch primer. Although the rear with just the etch primer has come up better, it is still dusty and can be rubbed into a powder with your finger. I was very happy with the quality of the etch primer finish so I don't think it's that. It was very hot when I applied the Dunkelgelb so not sure if it was the heat or I applied it too think in one go?
Has anyone had similar?
Regards
Adam

Re: Paint issue
It looks like to me that the paint is drying before it hits the surface.
You are maybe too far away with the can and the coats are not wet enough.
This paint is really good but have had a couple of similar instances and had to change my method slightly when applying it.

Re: Paint issue
Hi Adam
I have found this paint goes dusty too but a rub over with a soft brush after it's cured seems to tidy things up.
It's a good colour match and so much cheaper than
Tamiya TS3 .

Re: Paint issue
You said the magic words when you said " It was very hot when I applied the Dunkelgelb".
Solvents or thinners or reducers if you prefer are a compromise for any given temperature and I'm assuming the paint is delivered
via rattle cans? One of the reasons I rarely use them- can't really control the viscosity of the paint as you can when you mix it yourself and shoot
it from a pressure gun. I realize it's not what everyone wants but control over your paint application is key.
When I painted a car years ago I ended up purchasing 3 different reducers for the PPG paint and had to use a specific one for the temperature
at hand.
The other writer summed it up: the solvent is evaporating too fast; with premix not sure what you can do other than wait for cooler temps or
move the applicator closer and/or move the applicator more slowly to lay down a more 'wet' layer.

Re: Paint issue
Thank you for the responses. Now the weather is cooling down I'll give it another try and see. Hopefully it is as simple as the temp or moving closer. Thanks again.
