Cobbaton VJ weekend

Post by Gary Richardson »

Hi all

Having just spent an enjoyable couple of days at the Cobbaton Combat collection VJ day event I would like to say thanks to Adrian. It was a nice relaxed event and gave me the chance to trundle around with the Churchill AVRE and Tiger. We had a couple of track related issues. The Sherman threw a track on Saturday and on Sunday the Tigers track rode off the sprocket, then Adrian lost an end cap off the Shermans track. Amazingly, considering the long grass, he found it after a bit of searching. I learnt a lot about which tools I need to have for track problems without resorting to the big hammer :D
I have a couple of photos from Saturday but I will let Adrian add the more interesting ones. It's all about the scale

Regards
Gary

Hi Steve
it was mixed weather Saturday with intermittent drizzle but brightened up about 2pm. Sunday was nice and warm. The Churchill did a good impression of a cow....ate lots of straw :D

A couple of extra pictures from Cobbaton. We had a great spot, with plenty of room for manoeuvres.

With our location in front of the T-34, people seemed to head for that and then veer towards us when they saw the models :D 8)

Tim did start the T-34 up and I was really hoping he'd be charging round the field with it, but I think H&S prevailed.

Apologies to Steve and Fiona but I don't seem to have taken any pictures on the Sunday so their contribution isn't shown
