Tiger #25 2023

Post by Andrew Gaze »

G’day all,
I thought I’d build my Tiger #25 in the form of an old Tamiya kit I built as a youngster in German grey.
I’m no history buff and don’t know if the Tiger depicted on the box art was even a real thing, maybe someone here can enlighten me.
Anyway, here are a few pictures of my progress to date.

German armour changed over to Dunkelgelg in early 1943. Early tigers would be in grey until change. Also grey with winter whitewash.

But read this also.

Looking good! It was a highlight of my day when I stored away the last wheel stack, painted and with tires mounted. They sit in a storage bin, awaiting mounting once the hull gets finished.

Progress for today, suspension arms done.
I made some spacers to go between the double wheels to help keep everything running true and keep any crap from getting in the large cavity between the inner double wheels.
An “O” ring works great to seal the gap between the outer double wheeels.

Hey Dale, the inner double wheels are supported with long M2.5 studs and have an 18mm gap in between them that can get filled up with crap.
The spacer simply clamps between the two wheels and fills the gap.

Love the idea of painting a Tiger grey, I am also building mine in dunkelgrey and building a late 1942 initial version without the turret escape hatch or the stowage bin on the turret plus a few missing items.
I hope to have something that resembles this

Hi Neil and thank you for the positive comments.
It’s simply done with some gravel off the driveway and a 10 ton press 😄
