Have a look at this.....
https://www.der-getriebedoktor.de/en/pi ... round-pole

Alternatively, try searching using '1:8 scale rotating beacon' may give a few alternative suppliers!!

Afternoon all.
Thank you for the input regarding winky pots(38;50euro). I had an email from Kevin's link. Yes, you've guest it Brexit, apparently they are not allowed to post to a private customer in the UK purchases under 153euro,

Richard's link is slightly more promising, unit price the same as above, however the postage is 27:50 euro. I took this one all the way to checkout without issue. I just don't fancy the postage.

I could buy half a dozen, postage is the same, an option but I will have a look round before coming to a decision.

Cheers for now
Charles

Ah Charles, it may be cheaper to repaint the whole Chieftain in Batus camo.

That way you generally don't need the winky pot, I'm guessing it gives the position away too easily, unless of course your in the OC tank,

Officer Commanding, Observer Commanding, Operational Command, not sure, but switched on at night it'd be
"Hi guys, I'm over here, don't shoot"

Either way it's a good looker.

I tried getting some 3D printing done from the EU and they would only ship to a company with a VAT number. And that was for over 200eu worth of work.

"Oi, Captain!"

OC = Officer Commanding, usually, but not here. 0C (Zero Charlie) is a radio callsign, in this case for the second in command of the squadron. The OC was 0B (Zero Bravo) - of course, that makes sense. So in the British Army, just as there are regiments which are battalions, there are 0Cs who aren’t Officers Commanding. All clear?

How about this Charles, why not put a post on the Jagtiger blog asking if any of our German colleagues could help you out here ie they buy it and post to you? Just a thought!!

Good idea Richard, just hope that that fraternity understand our needs.

A couple of options:-

1/The above

2/ I buy half dozen (share the postage), anyone interested?

3/ I send an empty Lego box to the pen friend of my wife in Germany(postage there is 5 euro). Then postage to UK poss. 5 euro.

4/ A member of this forum living in Germany could............ See option 1/

Anyway no rush, things might change :? .

Cheers Charles

Charles, in the past when these things were not available l put together one of my own using a cosmetic can top of roughly the same size. Check out the wife's bath room cabinet. Or boots, Have a good reason for perusing the feminine aisles. Though nobody cares these days.
Usually clear, paint inside with tamiya clear amber paint, make a little base, add a 6/12 volt flashing LED and fit.

Stephen. OC, clear as the mud on a Chieftains tracks.
Sounds just like management ploy, making it up as they go along.
Still better than the Geman tanks in WW2, announcing the occupants via their nomenclature. :|

David, John. Thank you for your input. I have seen those units on ebay, may try one to see how it looks/works. I do like the idea of perusing the cosmetic shelve without being accosted or the funny looks. I have some flashing orange LEDs but to be effective you would need to be in a darkened room, they are 12v & from different outlets.

I will persevere.

Cheers Charles

Charles, the rotating beacons do give the appearance that the light is rotating. That is because they are a circle of leds which basically chase around the circle thereby giving the impression of rotation. A single flashing led would not give the same appearance. Your choice however! :D

Hi Richard, I have seen the video, which makes it frustrating (expensive) wish to acquiring one. The flashing LEDs I have may function as indicators somewhere down the line, and thank you.
Cheers Charles

Very impressive, Pistenking Funktionsmodellbau

So is the price, are they Pis-ten-king Funktionsmodellbau, that'll be closer to £50.00 once postage and customs gets hold of it.

So then there's the cheap one on ebay

or this one

same one

But Nothing will beat the werring motor sound of an rotating reflector if you can find a small enough motor and gearbox.

I still think you'll have to visit Boots for a big enough pot to put the strobe in........... maybe

Thank you for the videos John, I now have an ebay one and will experiment. For the Pis-Ten -King light, it will be a case of using good lady's German pen friend(and the Lego box).

Have fun all.
