Dear Fellow Modelers,

My name is Loic Anthian, owner and operator of Field of Armor Tanks LLC. You may have heard that FOA acquired the assets of 6th Scale Icons. FOA is located in Murray, Utah (in the Salt Lake Valley Image)

First, I'd like to thank Gill at Armortek for allowing me to post updates on "6th Scale Icons" on their business' Newsgroup. I will NOT answer any questions on this Newsgroup regarding FOA products as of respect of this kind invitation.

This is my update as of Nov.6th 2014

1. I contacted all customers who had pending orders with 6SI according to the paperwork and emails that were left by Mike. If you were not contacted, please email me and send me your communication with Mike.

2. Most of the pending orders are almost complete. I told the customers that I'm holding these orders until I make sure that we have all the molds and parts to make more of these marvelous products. I'm hoping to have that work done by Christmas. It would be nice if there were under your Christmas tree...

2. We have collected all equipment and inventory from 6SI. We are still sorting out the molds, and organize the equipment we need, and find a place for all these tools in our warehouse

3. We are reconnecting with 6SI suppliers and making sure that the same quality of products can still be offered.

4. New releases: Many orders are waiting for the Gurtsacks, IR Scope, 222 turret grills, etc. The good news on the Gurtsacks will be posted in the next few days, but they are finally coming in the US, and a lot more will be available in early January! As for the other new releases, we are still looking for all the parts to make sure it was finalized by Mike.

5. We have decided to work on the Tiger I and Panther accessories first. I have built my first 6SI product a couple of weeks ago, it was the Tiger I loader's hatch. It is functional and totally gorgeous! (I guess the word "gorgeous" can be used from a modeler describing accuracy)Image

6. The 6SI parts will start appearing on the FOA website next week, on the product listing left column after you enter the homepage - with photos and descriptions. It will be a separate category and entirely automated for check out. The inventory listed will be accurate and ready to ship within 24 hours upon purchased, with automated shipping rate calculators. http://www.fieldofarmortanks.com

Last, I'd like to honor Mike Stannard for his 11 years of service to this community. He left a Legacy of accuracy and service that will be difficult for FOA to fill. As I was investigating the possibility to take over this line, I realized that Mike put way too many hours of his life to get this company to survive as well as satisfy his thirst for perfect accuracy. At this time, FOA will NOT offer build-up kits unless we have the proper master builders to satisfy this market.

In the short term, we are going to slowly re-introduce 6SI products as KITS ONLY. A former employee of 6SI is flying to SLC on Nov. 22nd to update FOA employees on procedures, quality control and production. So please be patient, and work with us

Happy Modeling,
Loic Anthian

Hi Loic and welcome to the forum :D

Many thanks for the update, and for keeping Mike's legacy available to the community.

Personally, I'll be waiting for the Panzer III parts, but with more 1/6th Tigers on the way, from wherever, I can see the sense in making their parts available first 8)

Adrian.

6th Scale Icons Nov.26 Update

Post by Loic (6thScaleIcons) »

We now have about 144 6SI products "on the website" [out of about 340 products]http://www.fieldofarmortanks.com. But 121 are actually in stock. There have been a good demand on these products.

Now we are seeing more clearly what's involved with this line and we are starting to pull the "UN-shipped Orders" that we held to make sure we could reproduce each item. We hope to start shipping some of these orders in December 2014.

I have a few questions to YOU the customer, especially since Mike was very open with his customers:

1. Some brass parts like the MG mounts, antenna brackets, two rope clamps and many other items were "cast in bronze". Does anyone know which source was used by Mike?

2. We found the sources of the Gurtsacks (now in stock!), machined I-bolts, wing nuts, and various other hardware. We also learned about his methods of casting resin and "spin casting" metal parts.

3. Did Mike ever share the digital files of his building instruction manuals? We have jpg files of all of them, but we'd like to find the editable files.

4. We found all the Photo-etch parts for the Panther IR Scope and bins, and we have the original master. Did anyone ever receive the IR Scope or the IR Bin?

5. We are currently working on the Tiger late and Panther cupolas with their various periscopes and hardware.

If you know the answer to any of the above questions, please shot me an email loic@fieldofarmortanks.com. It's not always easy to take on a business without the benefit of direction from he previous owner - especially from a dedicated artist!

Update on 6th Scale Icons - Jan. 2015

Post by Loic (6thScaleIcons) »

Good Morning from Utah!

I'd like to post another update from the "6th Scale Icons" line, especially relating to customers still waiting for orders not filled before the untimely passing of Mike Stannard in July 2014.

1. Our NEW website now shows 211 products from the 6SI line, with 41 being out of stock. it is about 62% of the entire original line.

2. What Mike feared over a year ago did happen: the PE manufacturer using the "drop out" system cannot produce for this line anymore. We have been actively searching for a replacement company, but it is difficult due to the tight specifications of the films we use. Making new films is a tremendous investment. If some of you know of a PE manufacturer using this system, please let me know

3. We now have full access to Mike's old emails and especially all of the pictures, instructions and research. We are updating this information as fast as possible - which is about 11 years of product development!

4. TWO NEW products, announced in 2013, are the IR Scope/Bins and Tiger II rear mudguards. We found the missing PE part from the IR Scope, but we think this project was not entirely finished before put on sale. We are finishing it now, and it looks gorgeous! As for the Tiger 2 mudguards, we are just missing the PE parts for the lock-tabs.

5. Most of the "unfilled orders" from the former 6SI time have the two above products. We apologize for the delays, but we feel you should get what you paid for.

6th Scale Icons is a fun line. Each and everyone of the products made by Mike Stannard are 'individual models' in their own right. This line has brought new life to our business during the Christmas Holidays and beyond

Check your torsion bars; sounds like they're set wrong. PS: please don't yell, I have a headache.

Hi Russ,

thats normal that the roadwheel on the left or right side is
closer to the drive sprocket.
Because the torsionbar arms one one side pointed forward and on the
other side pointed backwards.
Its also better is you have a question about the tiger 1 you post your question
in the tiger topic.
Hope this will help you.
Regards Yves
