Hi Kent, I am really enjoying this discussion.
So, the front plate would be a pretty high wear area and so the look and texture would look worn and scuffed if the vehicle had been in service for some time.
My understanding is that the Tigers could have zimmerit applied at the factory or in the field.
So, if applied at the factory, would it be applied over the red primer or over a base coat of dunkelgelb?
The last photo you posted shows that the zimmerit was applied over dunkelgelb but wondering if this was always the case.
Zimmerit applied in the field would be over the factory applied dunkelgelb.
I assume that in either case, they would have then have to be painted again.
