Re: Churchill Prototype
I quite liked this photo (although the mudguard ribs did get messed up a bit).
It shows the Churchill with the hull mounted machine gun placed on the vent on the front deck. We had left it there before installing it in the model and "forgot" to remove it before taking the photograph.
Almost looks like a turret on a destroyer.

Re: Churchill Prototype
A short video of the Churchill being put through its paces at the factory.
Love the sound of the wheels and tracks.
The status at the moment is that production is all done - but we are waiting on a few remaining bought in parts:
- rubber bump stops
- wooden jack blocks
- some fasteners
We also still need to complete the instruction manual (which generally takes about a week) pack up all the fasteners and then start boxing up the kits.
All told, we are probably looking at another 10 working days before shipping can start.

Re: Churchill Prototype
Very nice indeed and it makes great running gear noises to, squeaking tracks and the metal road wheels/ casters all add to the illusion!

Re: Churchill Prototype
I was quite surprised at the limited downward travel on the wheels, until I found this video on YouTube

Re: Churchill Prototype
The final validation build is underway - gives us a chance to check that the manual is correct and all the fasteners are accounted for.
The shipping date in inching closer, but still a lot of work for us to get through.
.
Churchill parts ready for boxing. We will only box up once we are 100% happy with the manual and packing lists.

Re: Churchill Prototype
We have started painting our factory 1:6 scale Churchill Mk III.
We are going to base the camo scheme on a desert scheme - light colours should help the details on the tank stand out.
We will also remove the front and rear mudguards to show off the tracks a bit more and do some light weathering on the tank - nothing too dramatic.
The images show the lower hull having been primed with a dark grey etch primer and just starting to get a dusting of light stone.

Re: Churchill Prototype
Surface texturing with car filler to give the appearance of rolled steel.
And adding weld seams.

Re: Churchill Prototype
Some more weathering and toning down the colours to simulate sand/ dust on the tank.
