I Didnt reply to your comment regarding the positioning of the round hull plates - i did get the wrong end of the stick there so thanks for pointing it out

I much prefered the Ally version too but it was a fair amount of work and i wasn't really happy with the way the edges burred over so the printed version won the day..

oh and dont worry ive measured off the screen before - it works ok if you have something to scale to - well kind of

I look at things retrospectively hoping I did the best I could with what I had at the time.
Retrospectively, I certainly wouldn't do Chieftain again.
(It's defiantly one step forward, two steps back, trip up, loose your footing and fall off a cliff).
No worries, it'll be classic.

On rare occasions I get miller and lathe time at work, In the current climate you'd think there'd be more time, but work is manic.

I satisfy myself and superiors that during the odd lull periods I'm sharpening up my skills on these alien machines in an alien workshop.
Usually around 3 o'clock in the morning, "using my break" not really the best time for concentration.
Shift workers would know this as the "Wall"

So don't be put off by first time failures, I've had so many. With such wondrous machines you have, your sure to have gob smacking parts.

The young un's think 3d printers are a new thing. Captain Kirk Star Trek replicators were around back in the 1960's

Not a lot of progress over the lockdown due to having to work too much...

but here we go again got the final drives almost finished and ready to refit, gettinig back into some of the smaller bits before i tackle the front and back ends again

Good to see some lumps of Chieftain on the forum too.
I've made a few little bits recently, but the doldrums seem to be upon me at the moment. It seems very cold in the garage/workshop and not a lot to look forward to at the moment. I haven't bolted an Armortek part on for weeks/months .
So many little bits to make, trying this and that to see what looks ok and what works well.
(I find that two pints of Xmas cider and squint works well too)
Once I've made it down one side I'll know how to make the bits for the other side.
Well that's the plan in my noggin.

I know how you feel i have suffered some of the same but just starting to want to get some done again now - and to be honest im still not happy with the Final drive assembly, the bottom left and top left bolts are just not right and i might move them - but then i start to think where do i stop... Ahhh
time is my enemy so i sholud let them go....

Finished the second Final drive and nearly ready to paint but those litle 1.4mm Bolts are devils to deal with

So just getting back into my build after way too much time has passed.

A major break through I have found my Chieftains Reg no from a photo I found. 06FA63. And yes I have had to buy 2 additional rear bins as well. You’ll see.

Well you certainly have the skills, Time to sharpen the files. There's some cracking models being built to help you hit your goal.
Don't follow me though, I'm a lost cause, I've broken three 10 BA taps this week, It's cold out there
