Hello Dennis, thank you for the reply.....and yes, Eric does mention the 'handing' of the hinge brackets, I clearly missed this advice. Meanwhile, I am building the cab/engine compartment/rear body/rear doors as separate units.
I will fit an aluminium floor to the underside of the chassis. I sprayed the floor with primer then immediately knocked it off the table, guess which way down it on the floor it landed.....like a piece of bread and jam....Mick

Hello Tom, the underside plate is aluminium sheet, 2mm thick, 175mm by 450mm. Measure your 251 to be sure.....I drilled and tapped into the chassis, five M3x6 hex head bolts each side. You could probably use smaller or less bolts as the floor does not support any other part. I purchased the aluminium as an pre-cut standard size from eBay.....Mick

Hello Mick, I'm working on building the sprocket. I'm working on getting the CM0217part along with using the two pin's (4x16). Any hints on making it go on as easy as possible?

Update, got them on but I have another question does part no.MM0219 have to move freely (Spin)? Some of mind do and some don't

Hello Tom, all of the rollers CMO219s should move smoothly, just ease the holes in CMO217, you may find some 'burring' in the holes on the sprocket ring. I think I used a round file.
I also assembled the sprocket and the ran a drill bit very carefully down the sprocket ring where the pins are located, the 4x16 pin will then fit easily. Don't use an oversize drill though, just clean the hole and make sure all the parts line up. The pins need to be a good tight fit.

Most of my parts are built and awaiting paint....I still cannot decide on the final layout inside the 251. I would like to install a 'searchlight' if I could find kit or ready built searchlight model.....Mick

Hello Dennis hello Stephen, thank you for your comments. I have a war time memory of 'searchlights'. I recall my auntie taking me to see a searchlight in Leicester Street, Walsall during WW2 and watching the huge beam racing skywards as the crew lit up the light.
Dennis, just a point of interest, would that type of model searchlight you purchased 'fit' in the 251 rear compartment space. It looks rather large, I have not been able to find dimensions for the one on eBay. Having said that, I am very taken by your 'Flak' arrangement....decisions, decisions, decisions.....

Yes it would go in there but you would have to cut the seat off if you wanted it to rotate and probably build a false floor as I have done to mount it. That would also come on handy to mount the electronics under.

The dimensions are with the seat on :- 11" long by 8" wide and 9" high. Without the seat on the length would be 10" and the rotary table is 6" in diam. So you need 6" diam clearance to rotate it without the seat on, with the seat on about 9" diam clearance.

Flak 38 Dragon gun very difficult to get hold of, I did see one in the States for $50 but they wanted another $50 to ship it.

How goes the riveting ?

Now......regarding the rivets, I have cheated....most of the 'rivets' have been replaced by button head M2.5 x 4 bolts and nuts. Once satisfied with the location I fill the 'head' with Milliput, when painted they resemble rivets.....magic. Unfortunately my 'shaky' hands made a mess of my early riveting....so where needs must as the saying goes. It's called 'stand off' scale.
What a glorious morning, so into the garden for some paint spraying.....

Hello lads and lassies, steady progress, looking forward to the options pack. The Sdkfz 251 in 1/6 is an easy manageable size, without the weight. A problem I had to consider, old age does not come on it's own....
Most of the body 'sections' are built and ready for final paint. I am still pondering the rear compartment layout.....Mick.

Looking good. You can put the batteries in the front with the body on by the way. 2 x 9 amp/hour 12 volt batts will go in through the bonnet opening.

Hello Dennis, thank you for the advice reference batteries, I had planned to ask you. I will order my batteries tomorrow from Hardware Express, I have used them before.
My Options Pack arrived today, I like the new 'slim line' modules, the motion unit will fit under the floor leaving plenty of room under the bonnet. Can't wait to 'fire' it up.
Working on the cab area, fitting lights on the dash.....Mick.
