No Zim yet, was waiting for Marks jack so I could mount it before I get started, so I made a video reviewing the upgrades that I have planned.

I’m back and hoping to steadily keep working on my model. It’s been a huge distraction but I built a 1/4 Hellcat RC plane at a friends shop and it was over 100 lbs so we can’t fly it because the weight limit is 55lbs for airplanes without a waiver which we can’t get because there aren’t any locals that can give us and inspection. I suffer very badly from wanting to build more than one model at a time but I’ll try to stick to one at a time moving forward, lol.

Thanks for the video Brian.
It looks like one of those tasks where a bit of practice helps.

Cheers

Looking good. Don't forget to put zimmerit on the plate in front of the drivers visor and hull mg.

Hi Mike, although most modelers ad zim here I haven’t seen much evidence that this area was actually covered. I prefer the smooth look there.
I just don’t see it.

I have enjoyed watching this video, probably the first time applying zim coating on 1/6 scale panzer i have seen from youtube. Thanks for uploading this. Any progress of making your Panther 9&10?

Cheers,
Jae-seung

I thought the same thing and did not apply it there on my Tiger then I got this question from Per Sonnervik

"I have one question regarding your application of zimmerit; why no zimmerit on the plate in front of the drivers visor and MG? This plate was also zimmeritted, there are quite a lot of photos showing this. When one put zimmerit here one should not forget to do two parallel lines in the zimmerit, always in the same place in front of the front lamp. The same type of lines can be found on the Tiger II front , probably from sort of ladder contraption used when applying the zimmerit."

If you look at picture 2 you posted it has zimmerit there and you can see the 2 lines that Per mentions.
I am pretty sure there is also zimmerit on the 1st and 3rd picture, at that angle it is hard to tell.

Looks really good Brian. I like your chips and scuff areas - once painted and weathered this will look great!

As for the area in front of drivers plate - if that did have zimmerit it would get worn quickly from the Driver and Radio Operator walking on it to get in and out of the tank. So in short order it would look like there's none there,
Best regards,
Bob

Hi all,

Yes, the horizontal front hull plate had zimmerit as Per described.
Hard to find good photos of it but here are some below.

Kind regards
Kent

Here is a photo of a post war dug up Tiger 1 front plate showing tracers of once applied zimmerit.
Hope this was of any use.
