Re: A Warning.
I think it looks pretty awesome all charred. Please don't mistake - I feel terrible for the gent loosing his pride and joy and workshop to boot. But one couldn't make a better "dead Tiger" diorama piece. That's one for the Real or Fake thread.
You are a brave soul to want to restore that one Adrian. But I'd love to see the end result back in original form!

Re: A Warning.
The restoration could be a ‘battlefield repair’ maybe get it running but don’t paint it? That would be pretty crazy.

Re: A Warning.
Adrian, having attended the scene of many hundred fires and inspected thousands of fire damaged items, I would strongly suggest that you have the whole thing bead (or something similar) blasted. Contaminants can remain even after scrubbing or sanding and will come out to spoil your nice paint job. The smell of heat and smoke damage can linger for months as well. Careful blasting (or in fact chemical dipping) will eliminate both these problems and not expensive either. Just a suggestion. A great project to have!

Re: A Warning.
Thanks Peter. I've just emailed a picture to a local blasting company, to get an idea of what it will cost.
