Re: Mike Stannard
Im sad to hear about this, and my deepest condolances to his nearest.
He was without a doubt master craftsman. And a man for detail and service with no compromises about quality.
He always wanted the clients best and that we all, were best served and happy about his products.
If something was wrong or damaged.....have no fear. Mike would fix it.
He even sent me new items wich was lost in the mail delivery......HAT OF.
The mud guards i ordered.....shame i never get to see the excellent work.
But sometimes money isnt everything, and rest assured you will be both mentioned and remembered by this comunity for a long time.
R.I.P Mike

Re: Mike Stannard
Very taken aback by the news, I am sad that his family and friends will have missed the appreciation that we have for his work by the delay in this news reaching us. If there is someone who can pass this thread on I would ask that they might, so my (and our) condolences will reach them.
He will be missed, but his work will be a lasting monument.

Re: Mike Stannard
Mike - master craftsman and gentleman. You'll be sadly missed but long remembered through your work which lives on.
Mike was working on Centurion drivers' periscopes when he fell ill and was full of enthusiasm for creating products to serve his customers.
I can only echo Steve's comments about passing on the message. Maybe John Grima has a contact?

It´s a cold and rainy day when I´m reached by these sad news. I´ve never had the pleasure of meeting him and have only positive things to say, both about his parts and his services - he will be missed.
My deepest condolences to his family.

Re: Mike Stannard
Talked to Mike several times over the years and bought a few things from him too, although I never managed to buy all that I wanted to. He was a gentleman and an inspiration. Although he lived Stateside he was in fact English and had served with, I believe, the Royal Anglian Regiment. We tend to take those around us for granted but we surely miss them when we reach for the fruits of their labour and find it absent! We will certainly miss Mike's craftsmanship. We have lost one of own and I am truly saddened by this.
A quick question for John; is there anyway we can get access to Mike's remaining inventory as I'm sure that the family would really appreciate whatever cash we can raise on those remaining parts. I'd hate to think that the landlord would just trash everything without any benefit accruing to Mike's family. I remember when Keith Zang died there was a concerted effort to sell off his remaining stock of Sgt Zang 1/6th scale helmets (I bought a load of them and I still have them all). The monies accrued from these sales went into a college fund for Keith's young daughter. Perhaps something similar can be done here?
