Whow, excellent result! Amazing those casts!

Could you post a picture of the mould? I have no experience with casting but have finished the first brake drum, I might try to cast the second one. The left and right brake drum are identical anyway.

Best regards,

Marcus

Hi Marcus,

Not sure it will help much as the mould won't deliver these sort of results without a Vac chamber and decent size pump but here you go.

Best regards

Dave

That is some equipment! Way out of my league…….
I was only wondering how you did cast those undercuts, mould is very flexible so to see.

I’ll start my own tread shortly instead of hitchhiking on yours, Dave. That is if I can get my camera set up properly for detail shots………

Cheers,

Marcus

Hi All,

I got up the courage tonight to take the sanding drum and finishing block to the first tyre. Its the same as I did on my WMIK as I felt the profile was too hard and angular.

It doesn't show to well in the pics tonight because of the lighting but if you look at the last pic you can see the hard edge on the rear tyre that has gone on the front one.

Its messy and I don't recommend this unless you are sure you can get a reasonably even profile without cutting to deep. I do however much prefer the tyre with the softened and worn edge.

Best regards,

Dave

Hi All,

Had a head cold all weekend so building has been limited to simple things I can see properly.

I've made the shackle assembly for the front under the shield and will be offering this with the all the other bits once done.

If I can get the Christmas decorations and everything out of the way I may tackle the axle retainer castings next missing from underneath.

I've bought some more strip wood and sheet to make fully detailed storage boxes for the trail and front shield to replace the solid machined wooden ones.

Marcus has set the bar now with the brake drums so going to have to make some of these soon, unless maybe I can strike a deal with him

Best regards

Dave

Hi Dave,
Well I happen to have a third brake drum..... Never was good in numbers, that is why I came to be an engineer! As my 25 pdr happens to have only two wheels I have a drum left :D

Best regards,

Marcus

Hi Marcus,

Would you be interested in trading the 3rd drum, for me to use and mould, in exchange for some of the castings of other parts I'm making? If so drop me a PM,

Cheers

Hi All,

The axle castings have been made and the side detail plate to go with it. Only doing one of these side plates as the other side is covered by the storage box tray. Also made the last bit of detail for the recoil slide nose casting. All these bits will be going into moulds shortly.

Best regards

Dave
