You didn't say what the Transmitter voltage should be, 8 volts would be seriously low on my Futaba, but ok on the Taranis I intend to use.

I've heard myths that "close by" microwave ovens can cause transmission blips, even old fridge motors kicking in can generate radio "noise".

Charles, can’t see if you’re using OpenTX or Spektrum. If the former, read on.

If your transmitter has the switch position warnings ON and is active, ie a switch, slider or pot is not in its set position, communication between the TX and RX will be inhibited. It’s designed to prevent model aircraft motors running inadvertently, if the throttle and throttle override are in the wrong position. In that case, with our setups, you can get an uncommanded turret rotation if the model is switched on with the warning active. It will continue until you override the warning by pressing any switch. It’s therefore best for us not to have the warning set, which you can do on the Model page.

I am operating with a Spectrum DX8, after having a look through the transmitter manual 8.2v is fine, there is apparently an alarm that comes on when 6.4v is reached.

I fired up the machine this morning with no problems and the tank electrics showed 25v@ 88%. I also put the batteries on charge anyway, something I do regularly.

I went though a phase where I was so keen to get a model boat in the water I’d forget to switch the onboard electronics on. Push it out and spend the next 10 minutes trying to bring it back in hoping for a favorable breeze.

Then there’s the multiple model program on the transmitter, wrong model selected can cause infinite amounts of fun.

This the second time I have written this, the first draft just disappeared

Ho Hum. Not been that busy recently and John Clarke was asking what have I been doing, so here is a small update.

Mud guard brackets fitted, I hope acceptably:- The other issue that recently raised its ugly head was the Neutral Turn.

Apologies Stephen I haven't got around to the transmitter issue yet, task in hand though.

As I have removed the tracks I found that on the inner sections of the idlers all the paint had worn off. Further investigation also found the drive sprockets had moved out a little bit. I do appreciate that there will be some "running in" issues, so once we are mobile again, we'll see.

Now, as winter is with us, I like John am moving into the house and doing some of the accessories I recently obtain from Armopax and the ever on going turret top

Mudguards look good to me Charles! The paint has also worn off my idlers also during the test run. I put pics up post run to show the various areas if you want to look? Keep going buddy!

Hi Charles good to hear from you, I would of expected the paint to wear off the idler, but more evenly.
Nice mudguard support mod, I was pleased nothing catastrophic happened to mine when I cut mine out

Having watched some Chieftain stuff on U Tube this evening.

Would it be possible to purchase something that can push the smoke out of my Chieftain's exhaust more like the real thing?

I think it was Adrian Harris that did some sort of upgrade for the Armortek smoker maybe it would be suitable for what you want.

The Smoker for Chieftain needs to be a monster to be realistic.

The downside is what to do with the excess smoke when you shut down, otherwise it could fill the model.

I have fitted a fan on top of the main fan constantly trickling air pressure to evacuate the smoke chamber. Doesn't look great on shut down due to a trickle of smoke emptying from the smoke chamber keeping smoke from inside the model.

Benidini does a four heater smoker (or did) available to buy built and build yourself. Metal or plastic box, no brainer there. But the metal box takes little longer to warm up. Two heaters run at low revs the other two heaters kick in after fifty percent rate sound is achieved.

Of course you'd have to do a bit of electrickry as it's not plug a play. Open up the red boxes and check parameters and connections on the sound module. Connections on the red box outside are not identical to the sound board inside and must be checked before hand.

But i can say it's a right choker. using oil at an alarming rate

As for the colour of the smoke has anyone tried a mix using two stroke oil?

Been having a go at this "scratch building" malarkey. Hinges, recycled from the engine grill fret, a bit rough around the edges, tis a tank but they work.

Appreciate a bit of filing and filling to do then Roberts your fathers brother Cheers for now
